Larissa Simpson Obituary

On September 24, 1992, a cute, little baby girl was born at 4:45 pm in the late afternoon. She had chosen her parents Maryann (nee Thompson) and Ernie Simpson. Her brother Leslie and four older sisters, Lana, Jessica, Marley, and Kerri. She moved into a huge house by the bridge along the river in Camperville, Manitoba.

As she grew older, she spent most of her early childhood with her parents, koko and paba out in the wilderness hunting and harvesting food and berries. They travelled by using a team of horses or by quads. Her koko and paba were quite proud of her skill at finding any rabbit snare they would not see. They would tell everyone how good she was in the bush as their helper. The longest gunshot happened when she shot a jumper. Her dad, her brother, and her cousin Steve were surprised by her 400 yard shot to the deer’s neck.  She also had the deadliest duck calls. When she was little, her friend, Clint and others called her “punaji” and both Marley and Larissa were mad. Marley thought they were picking on her for a while. Then they tried to figure out what the word meant. Clint finally told Marley it means “baby bird.” Marley said, “ever beautiful” and cried once she learned what they were saying. Her sisters and brother will sure miss their long phone calls with her. She also liked to play card games and dice with her friends.

She attended school in Philomene Chartrand School and Winnipegosis High School where she received a Grade 12 high school diploma. She received a Level 1 Massage Therapy diploma in Winnipeg. She received a Medical Health Clerk certificate and worked in Brandon. Later on, she worked at a Beauty Salon and trained there.

She met Demerick Catcheway, and they had a beautiful little girl, Demi. Later, Brendan Lacquette was her partner, and they had a son, Bryson. They spent a lot of time together fishing, sliding, skating, and having fun at Clear Lake. Her partner left to the spirit world and her whole world was never the same without him. She loved her children so much like every mother does. She always spoke about how much she missed her dad, too. He always called her, “My Bebe Girl.” She was my baby girl and will be forever.

To greet her in her new journey is her father, Ernie Simpson, her partner Brendan Lacquette, her niece Linden Nepinak, grandparents Jim and Clemence Thompson and Edward and Stella Simpson and other extended family members.

Larissa leaves to mourn her two beautiful children, Demi and Bryson; her mother, Maryann; Her brother Leslie Simpson (Madeline) and children Dean, Devin (Jenny), Marty, Dania, Les Jr., Little Ernie, London; her oldest sister Lana Simpson and children, Shaney (nephew Odayin), Brennon (Kyara), Carter, and Kasey Cruz; her sister Jessica and children Rodney (Chanelle), Cole, Rowen, and Cyson; her sister Marley Chartrand (Richard) and children Bailey, Tayah, Keanna, Talon and Richard Jr.; her sister Kerri and children Sathena and Safreya. She is also survived by many cousins, friends, aunties, uncles, and extended family.
