Kathy Fendick Obituary

Mama Odie, mother, grandmother and friend to many, Kathy Noreen Fendick was born on July 1st, 1957 in Winnipeg MB at the St. Boniface hospital. She was adopted into the family of Daniel and Margaret Friesen when she was about a year old. She passed away peacefully in her home in Grandview MB on Dec 27th, 2021 at the age of 64.

Kathy was first raised in Steinbach MB on a dairy farm before the family planted roots on a seed-cleaning farm in Grandview MB. There she grew up with her 3 brothers and 4 sisters.  Being part of a large family Kathy was one of the primary helpers to her mother especially after her father passed away at an unexpected early age. She remained close with her mother her whole life, they were best friends.

Besides working on the farm Kathy did babysitting, gardening, waitressing, and was an educational assistant before becoming a wife and mother. She had her one and only son, Ryan Alexander, in November of 1984 at the age of 29. Places Kathy called home were Dauphin, Pine River and eventually back to Grandview making lifelong friendships and relationships along the way that are still cherished to this day.

In her youth she gave her heart to Jesus and was baptised into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite. Her faith was not without struggles but religion remained a big part of her life. She enjoyed her youth life growing up and remained a devote reader of the Messenger of Truth her whole life.

She loved cooking, baking, shopping, writing, gardening and being fashionably late. Spending countless hours entertaining family and friends, sharing stories and making us laugh, her sense of humor was infectious, still making us smile with warm memories today.

Above all her dedication to family surpassed anything else. The lights of her life were her 2 grandkids Aurora Rae and Liam Alexander. She loved passing on her skills and teachings to them and made them a priority.

A huge lover of animals she was always fostering and taking in furry friends, then recruiting her son to help rehome them. She gave a forever home to Lacey, her beautiful calico cat. Please make any donations to the Parkland Humane Society in lieu of flowers.

Those left to cherish her memories are; her son Ryan Fendick and partner Robbyn Todoruk of Grandview MB, grandchildren Aurora and Liam Fendick, siblings Murray and Marilyn Friesen of Grandview MB, Ethel and Milfred Penner of Grandview MB, Ken Friesen of Grandview MB, Larry Friesen and partner Sharon Simpson of Grandview MB, Carol Friesen and partner Stephen Scott of Gilbert Plains, MB, Correen and Mike Regehr of Linden AB, Shirley and Woody Fast of Hazel KY.

Loved ones that have gone before her are; birth sister Cheryl, her parents and grandparents.
