It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Florence Elizabeth Joyce Urbanovitch of Sifton Manitoba at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre on December 11th, 2024 in her 84th year.
Joyce was born in Beamsville Ontario on October 14th, 1941 to John William and Elizabeth Coxall. Joyce married Jim Urbanovitch on June 30th, 1973 in Dauphin, MB. She worked at the Dauphin Court House for 28 years until she retired.
In 1995 Joyce and Jim moved to property they bought south of Sifton. They purchased an RTM home from Deneschuk Homes in Yorkton and developed a beautiful haven for themselves. Together they gardened, growing flowers and vegetables and nurtured a crab apple orchard with 24 different varieties. Joyce loved the many birds and animals that this would attract.
Joyce had many hobbies, berry and mushroom picking among them. She has many trophies from 5 pin bowling, and she took Taekwondo classes. Joyce and Jim were members of the Handgun Club as well. Joyce was a great cook, she wasn’t Ukrainian but mastered the art of Ukrainian cooking. The passion they both shared, and one of their favorite was fishing. They had a camper trailer set up to fish at Jock Strap Lake (gravel pit on Tony’s property). They had many favorite spots, the Mossey River, the Wilson River, Stoney Point Beach, the Dam at the Dauphin Reservoir, Lake of the Prairies and Blue Lakes. Often after being at Blue Lakes, they would venture to Swan River for lunch and some shopping.
Joyce is survived by her husband Jim of 51 years; sister Margaret (late Bob), brothers-in-law, Tony and Bill “Bennie”; sisters-in-law, Anne (Everette) of North Carolina and Emily (Carl) of Windsor, Ontario; nephews, Craig (Elizabeth), Chad (Jackie), Cort (Leanne), Brian, Tommy (Sara) and their children, Todd (Jeanette), Bob (Burney), Garry (Lori), Glen (Darlene), Cory (Sandra); nieces Susan and her children, Tara, Linda (Tom) and Joanne; as well as their pets, cats Fluffy & Tiger and Lucky their German shepherd..
She was predeceased by her parents and sister Barbara Marianne Coxall; brothers-in-law Steve, Morris, Walter and Peter Urbanovitch.
In keeping with Joyce’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
