It is with deep sadness the family shares that Joy Doreen Dawson (Young) of Dauphin passed away peacefully in the early morning of November 10th, 2025. Joy was comforted by her loving family in her final days, sharing smiles and memories of a beautiful life.
Joy was known to so many people for her beautiful smile and kindness to everyone she met along her journey. Those who were fortunate enough to have been her friend always parted company uplifted with a lighter heart. Throughout her life she enjoyed all sorts of community with a special place in her heart for the sporting world. Joy’s passion for camping and golf filled so many summer days with happiness and friendships which she treasured.
Her mainstay in life was the family. Joy will join her loving husband Gerald who passed in June 2018. Joy was the proud mother of Val Rizok (the late Ernie), Carol Ward (John) and Laurie Sinclair (Steve) who gave her so much happiness throughout her long life.
Being a grandma brought Joy so much pleasure, always keeping a very keen interest in all their lives. Grandchildren Tyler (Jenna), Colin, Ashlyn (Clinton), Kacie (Logan), Blake (Jess), Jett (Julia) and Dag (Evana); great grandchildren Tylee, Harper, River, Dawson, Cole, Myles, Ayla, Carter, Aubrey and Addison. All will miss her greatly.
Joy was born December 1, 1933, the eighth of nine children who she loved and remained close to. The bonds of family were instilled in her early years and formed the foundations that she carried throughout her life.
The family hopes you will remember Joy’s remarkable gift of taking the time to make everyone feel special.
Joy will lovingly be forever in our hearts and minds.
A Funeral Service was held for Joy on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 2:00 pm from the Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin with Pastor Howard Burnie officiating.
