John Zastre

John Joseph Conzague Zastre passed away suddenly at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC on Monday, February 17, 2025. Losing his wife Dorothy of 66 years only four weeks prior was a sadness he could bear no longer.

He was born on July 12, 1935, in Ste. Rose du Lac, MB. He met Dorothy Godson in Winnipeg in 1955 and they were married in 1958 in Vancouver, BC.

He is survived by his children Monique Zastre, Michael Zastre, Tony Zastre (Tina), Lucille Zastre (Matt) and Teresa Ramgren (Fred) as well as his grandchildren Erin Kugi (Mike), Sean Mulholland, Michael Doolittle, Victoria Marroquin (Jerson), Amanda Ramgren and Rebecca Ramgren. He also leaves to mourn three great grandchildren Scarlett Kugi, Miles Kugi and Felix Marroquin. He was also loved by many nieces and nephews and will be missed by all.

John was predeceased by his father and mother, five brothers and four sisters.

John and Dorothy raised their family in Vancouver and Prince George, BC eventually retiring in Kamloops. John was a skilled auto mechanic and his passions were hunting and fishing, camping and coaching softball. He was a talented guitar player and loved to sing.

A Graveside Service was held in Ste. Rose Cemetery on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 1:30 PM followed by a light luncheon at Ste. Rose Curling Rink.
