It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Pshebniski aged 81 of Benyk’s Point, MB. Joan passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, at Ste. Rose General Hospital.
Joan was born in Dauphin on December 5, 1944, to Henry and Lillian (Chuipka) Pereski. She grew up and attended school in Fork River, MB. On August 28, 1965, Joan married Sam Pshebniski, and together they raised three children. Joan and Sam spent their early years in Dauphin, later moving to Winnipeg. Many summer weekends were spent blueberry picking at Belair and going to Grand Beach as well as fishing at Lac du Bonnet. In 1992, Joan and Sam retired and moved to the cottage at Benyk’s Point, where Joan spent many wonderful years gardening, cooking, berry picking and fishing. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends including her telephone chats with Phyllis and Lucille. Joan was an avid reader with a strong interest in history and lifelong learning. She loved animals and took great joy pet sitting when her kids were on vacation. Joan’s Ukrainian catholic faith was a source of strength, comfort and guidance throughout her life.
Joan will be greatly missed by her three children: Daron; Gord (wife Karen and daughter Reid); and Nicole, as well as by many family members and friends. Joan was predeceased by her husband Sam Pshebniski; her parents, Henry and Lillian Pereski; and her siblings, Claudia, Melton (Mel), Archie and Wallie.
The family would like to thank the medical team at Ste. Rose General Hospital for taking care of Mom these last few weeks.
A Memorial Service was held for Joan on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 2:00 pm from the Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin.
