Jennie Coulson Obituary

Jennie Coulson passed away at the Dauphin General Hospital on July 12, 2019 at the age of 85 years.

Jennie is survived by two sons:  Jack Coulson (Nancy) of Erickson, and Wes Coulson of Invermere,  BC; one daughter Carolyn (Dave Clark) of Dauphin.  Also surviving is one grandson Scott Coulson (Jamie) of Shields, SK; three granddaughters Lindsay (Mike Baker) of Cumberland, BC, Lauren (Jordan McLaughlin) of Dauphin and Carly Baker (fiancee Chris Morgan) of Sifton, also step-granddaughter Rachel Chemerika of Erickson.  Also surviving are great-grandchildren Hayden, Callie and Peyton Coulson; Wade and Nora Baker, one sister Rose Chimick of North Burnaby, three nephews and two nieces.

Jennie was predeceased by her husband Paul in 2008, parents Steve Hawreyluk in 1982, Annie Hawreyluk in 1984, her only brother Nick in 1986, and two sisters Mary Paulencu in 1993 and Sophie Ellchuk in 2014, as well as nephews Roy Chimick and Steven Ellchuk.

Jennie was born on December 3, 1933 in Newdale, MB.  Her birthday had been celebrated on December 2 for many years, until she had to get a birth certificate to apply for a pension and found the birthdate had been recorded incorrectly. She was happy to celebrate her 85th birthday in 2018 surrounded by her family.

Jennie attended elementary and high school in Newdale, followed by a secretarial course at Success Business College in Brandon. Jennie worked as a legal secretary for George Lauman in Shoal Lake until she and Paul were married on May 27, 1953.  They resided on their cattle and grain farm southwest of Sandy Lake where they raised their three children. In 1976 Jennie began working as an RCMP clerk in Elphinstone, MB until her retirement in 1995.  Jennie was appreciated by the many RCMP members she worked with for her work ethic, efficiency, and friendship.

In 1979, Paul and Jennie moved from the farm to their new home in Sandy Lake.  In 2000 they moved to Dauphin and in 2014 Jennie moved into an apartment in Mountain View Villa estates where she resided until her passing.

Jennie always enjoyed time spent with family and friends - especially if it included a game of King Pedro. She also enjoyed bowling, curling in her younger years, dancing, travelling and had a special fondness for babies.

Jennie will be remembered for her love of life and her independent spirit. She was admired for her sewing abilities, sense of style and humming her way through most daily activities.
