Jean (Jennie) Chetyrbuk (nee Weselowski)
Jean passed away on November 4, 2023 at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home at the age of 101 years.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Nick (1998); her brothers and sisters, Max, Ann, Tillie, Patsy, Walter, Peter, Helen, Olga and Steve.
Survived by son Mervin (Stella) Chetyrbuk; daughter Shirley (Harry) Staerk; 4 grandchildren, Laurie (Barry) Keith, Brent (Pam) Chetyrbuk, Donna (Scott) Watson and Richard (Theresa) Voelpel; 10 great grandchildren, Justin, Jeremy (Keith), Camryn, Ryder (Chetyrbuk), Brian, Kevin (Watson), Cole, Miranda, Jennifer, Grayson (Voelpel).
She married Nick in 1937 and farmed alongside her husband in the Sifton and Ethelbert districts. They moved to Dauphin in 1956. After the move to Dauphin, she worked in several restaurants. She took great pride in keeping her uniforms and a multitude of aprons scrupulously clean.
She managed to prepare quite the spread for the family on special occasions even though she said she didn't like cooking. In earlier days, she enjoyed dancing, bowling and playing bingo. Until her vision declined, she had many hobbies such as embroidery, making flowers, knitting and different crafts. She always had a large garden but loved her flowering plants best. Every summer she would wonder if the mushrooms or berries were ready for picking.
She was a member of the Women's League at the Dauphin Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection until her health began to fail.
She moved to Pinawa in 2019 until her move to the personal care home in 2020. For the past 3 1/2 years she resided in the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home.
Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Jean may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
