Jean Kukurudz Obituary

It is with sadness that the family announce the peaceful passing of Jean Kukurudz on Thursday, May 21st, 2026, with family at her side.  Jean was the 1st born to Jack and Agnes White (Huffman), on August 2nd, 1937, in Grandview, Manitoba.

Jean went to Grandview School, attaining grade 9, before moving with her family to Winnipeg in 1955, at the age of 18.  There she was employed with Manitoba Telephone System as a telephone operator.  She married John Stogran in 1957 and together they had 3 children.  In 1975 she was wed to Matt Kukurudz.  They celebrated 46 years and together they had 1 son.  Jean enjoyed being employed at the Grandview Pharmacy for several years.  Her passion was also driving the Grandview Handi-van.  She enjoyed the times she spent with people, transferring them from point A to point B.  She took pride in her garden, tending to not only the many vegetables, but also her many different annual and perennial flowers.  Jean was also heavily involved with the Grandview Museum, spending many hours restoring the old house from the Crowe farm, as well as other museum buildings. Jean and Matt took pleasure residing in and modernizing the Old Mill House, which not only involved inside and outside work; but also refinishing furniture.  They lived there from 1982 until 2018, when they relocated to live in Dauphin for a short time.  Jean has resided in the Grandview Personal Care Home since August 2019, where in 2025, her health began to deteriorate.  During her PCH years, she kept herself busy with crafting plastic canvas; ranging from Kleenex boxes to wall hangings.  She also did numerous diamond painting pictures, greeting cards, key tags, and sun catchers; which translated into millions of tiny crystals!!  Many of the pictures she did for her family and friends; and many can also be found decorating the halls at the personal care home; and she also had pictures to decorate and brighten the walls in her own room.  She also did greeting cards and tags for every Grandview PCH resident during Covid and also for those residents displaced to Gilbert Plains Personal Care home during the very unfortunate flood, while repairs were being done.  One nurse told the family that Jean was the last pre-Covid resident.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Agnes White; her Huffman and White Grandparents; Aunties, Uncles and cousins.  Also predeceasing her were her Husband of 46 years Matt Kukurudz; infant brother Ian; sister Jimmi (Jamesina) Morran; brother-in-law David Morran; sister-in-law Vera White; Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law Olga and Rudy (nee Kukurudz); Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law Stan and Jenny Kukurudz; Sister-in-law Olivia Kukurudz; Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law Mike and Lena Kukurudz; Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law Sylvester (Stogy) and Paige Stogran; nephew Sheldon Stogran.

Left with many fond memories are her Brother Bill White; Brother-in-law Bill Kukurudz; Jean’s 4 children:  Jo-Anne and Son-in-law Delmar Kukurudz; Shane Stogran; Shawn Stogran and Daughter-in-law Brycee; Jack Kukurudz and Daughter-in-law Angela; 7 Grandchildren:  Barbara (Aaron Werbicki); Laurie Kukurudz; Malindi Stogran; Jillian (Brett Bridges); Nicole Stogran; Kendra Kukurudz; William Kukurudz; 9 Great Grandchildren, as well as her cousins and her White, Morran, Kukurudz, and Stogran nieces and nephews; as well as a host of friends and neighbors.

The family wish to extend their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to Dr. Jacobi Elliott and Dr. Trina Matheson and all of the exceptional staff at the Grandview Personal Care Home for the phenomenal care and attention they provided.  Special Thanks to Reverend Steve Wilson for the visits, phone calls, and the grave side service; thanks also to Reverend Luckson for the part he took in the service.  Thank-you also to the many others who stayed in touch with phone calls, text and email messages, and those who also sent flowers and cards.  Special thank-you to Uncle Bill White, Tim White and Liz for opening your homes to Jo-Anne and Shawn, and taking such good care of us when we landed needing a place to lay our heads during a very difficult week.  Your love and caring will never be forgotten.
