It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father, husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Jason Chartrand. On December 24th, 2025, Jason departed on his spiritual journey and joined our ancestors who left this Earth before him. Jason was born in Swan River, Manitoba on July 9th, 1982, he was 43 years old. Jason spent most of his childhood and youth in Briggs Spur, Sandy Bay, and Pine Creek First Nation. Jason lived many places including Swan River, Dauphin, Estevan, Brandon, Duck Bay and Pine Creek, where he currently lived with his wife Carley and three youngest children. Jason began working at the young age of 15 years old, he has worked many jobs which had led him to travel many places and make many solid friendships. He enjoyed working and supporting his family. He was employed with Russel Redi Mix for the last 7 years of his short life. He took pride in his employment position which was a heavy equipment/loader operator. Jason was a family man and loved his children and wife with his whole heart and did not hesitate to show how much he loved them. Jason was also a great provider and enjoyed hunting with his friends Georgie, Rod, Trevor and his nephew Dustin, he loved sharing his harvest with family and friends. Jason was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, picking berries, fishing, harvesting wild game, cleaning and cutting his yard and playing outside with his children and dogs. Jason was also an amazing handy man and was a jack of all trades. He was taught by his dad at a young age to maintain and fix vehicles and he enjoyed it. He can fix anything and if he didn’t know how, he would figure it out, he was stubborn in that way. Jason loved to travel with his family and loved to drive, especially through scenic routes. Jason liked to laugh and enjoyed making people laugh. He also enjoyed playing crib and loved to have a good smoke with some of his family and his friends. Jason loved listening to his music and listened to all genres. Jason loved going to concerts and seeing new places. He was also very smart and knew a little bit about everything. He was humble, and kind and had deep respect for his culture and traditions. Jason was so proud of all his children. His eyes lit up when he would talk about any of them, they are all special and like him in different ways. Jason loved and cherished his wife, Carley and made sure she always knew how loved and appreciated she was. Jason had many friends, of all ages and made friends everywhere he went. He was very good to speak our Ojibway language and enjoyed listening to and telling stories of his wilder days or recent travels. Jason liked to tease his friends and joke around, he never took life too seriously. Jason will be loved and missed by many. Jason was predeceased by his grandparents Fred and Madeline Chartrand, Steven and Louisa Beaulieau, aunties; Bernice (Colin), Eleanor, Joyce and Caroline and uncles Big Joe, Rudy, David and Edward and Bob. Jason was survived by his parents Madgeliene and Bly Chartrand, his wife Carley, his children, Isaac, Veronica, Holly, Wayne, Bryson and Brynlee, his sisters Edna (Joe), Laura, Sheila (Archie), Rebecca and Clarissa, his brothers Roddy (Charlene), Lawrence, Adam and Jamie, and nieces and nephews too numerous to name, his aunties Audrey, Waltrina, Rose, Doreen, Gloria, Jean, his uncles Ted (Helen), Fred, Gary, Morgan and Cory (Karen).
