James Carman McNarland was born in McCreary, MB on November 18, 1946 along with his twin sister Jean. He was the 4th of 6 children born to Earl and Lillian McNarland (nee Morden).
Jim was predeceased by his wife Gloria, his parents Earl and Lil, his brother Murray, his sisters Dorilla and Jean.
He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish many wonderful memories; his son Nelson (Marlene), his grandchildren Kelsey (Mike), Jesse (Angela) and his great grandchildren Sawyer & Connor, Nolan & Everlee as well as his brothers Gordon and Lorne and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim and Gloria met in 1968 and had their son Nelson in July of 1969. They were married on May 29, 1970 and lived in their first home; an old log house & a 1/4 section of land. They owned and operated M & M motorshop service station east of McCreary. Jim worked as a foreman for Turtle River Watershed for 30 years. They purchased the farm where they resided until their passings. Jim always farmed on the side, but following his retirement he began farming full time.
Jim had a passion for animals of all sorts from cattle, horses, dogs, deer, beaver, foxes and geese. He loved driving semi trucks and always owned one right up until his passing.
Jim had a short battle with cancer, but handled it like his nephew Marvin said like one tough son of a bitch.
Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A graveside service for Jim will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the McCreary Municipal Cemetery, McCreary, MB . Please bring your lawn chair for seating.
Should friends so desire, please consider remembering Jim with a donation to CancerCare Manitoba
