James T. Muir
Jim Muir was born March 18, 1925 to Edith (Chrismas) and Lawrence Muir, and passed away at the McCreary Personal Care Home on January 5, 2021 at the age of 95 years.
Jim grew up in Winnipeg. During World War 2 he served in the Signal Corps. Upon his return he gained employment at General Motors where he worked until his retirement. Jim met the love of his life Iris at the Winnipeg Roller Rink, and in 1950 they were married. In 1952 they built a house on Oakdean Blvd. where they raised their 3 children.
Jim was very musical and his father had taught him to play the piano by ear when he was young. Family gatherings always included lots of lively music with Jim, his father and brother playing fiddle, guitar and piano. He also had a very keen sense of humor and will always be remembered for his jokes, comical comments and messed up names!! Jim & Iris had many wonderful friends and neighbors, and all remember their parties with lots of music, laughter and good food.
It was a highlight in their life when Jim and Iris were able to build their cottage at Victoria Beach - right on the path to the Golf course! Jim loved to golf and now it was right out the back door! So many happy memories were made at the beach - swimming, boating, parties, golfing and walks along the shore at sunset. After retirement they made Victoria Beach their home
Then they discovered Arizona. Jim and Iris loved wintering at Lake Havasu and went there for many years. In later years they spent winters at Osoyoos, BC. Finally they settled in McCreary, Manitoba to be closer to their family. At the care home Jim will mostly be remembered for the welcome musical entertainment he provided by tinkling away on the piano.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his children: Heather(Dave), Gordon (Leslee) and Harold.
Grandchildren: Ryan(Rhonda), Janine, Shannon (Richard), Kelsey (Terry), Laura, Jeanna, Annie and Jimmie. Greatgrandchildren: Tyrese, Everett, Austin, Hayden, Jocelyn, Jayda, Charlotte and Riley. He was predeceased by his wife Iris, brother Laurie, Father Lawrence and mother Edith.
Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held when health conditions permit.
