Ivan Fisher Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ivan Kenneth Fisher on May 20, 2020 in the Grandview Hospital after a short battle with cancer. He was born March 13, 1933 in the Grandview Hospital to proud parents Kenneth & Georgena Fisher. He was raised 1.5 miles east of Petlura South Hall attending Denepro school until grade 8. The family then moved to the Pleasant Valley district where Ivan fell in love with the farm life. Ivan married Shirley Ann Draper on July 31, 1959 and soon after started a family of 3 boys and 1 girl. Ivan loved music, Friday night card parties, baseball, snowmobiling, horseshoe, hunting, fishing and trapping. At an early age he played guitar and violin with the Pleasant Valley Orchestra. They retired from farming in 2002 and moved into Grandview in 2003. After retiring he kept the farming passion alive by operating a combine for a neighbouring farmer. The violin was a passion he enjoyed with The Pleasant Valley Boys who volunteered their time for fundraisers, old time dances, personal care homes and other social functions.
Ivan began his work career at Muttard’s Lumber Co in Edmonton but soon moved home to farm. While farming he drove cat for Passareno Construction, worked for the the RM of Grandview, fought fire in the Duck Mountains and drove school bus for 22 years.
With his wife Shirley Ann they operated a 640 acre mixed farming operation while raising their 4 children. They belonged to the Pleasant Valley Community Club volunteering for dances and the July 1st picnics. They took up horseshoe, travelling from coast to coast in Canada playing at community picnics, provincials, and world championships. Three of the world championships were held in the USA.
Ivan is survived by wife Shirley Ann of 60 years, son Brent (Brenda) grandson Dustin (Chantel), great grandsons Avery and Lucas, grandson Kelly (Alyssa), daughter Laurie, son Kevin (Dessiree), son Randy (Lorelei) granddaughter Sierra (Daniel), great granddaughter Oaklynn, nieces, nephews and cousins.
