Irvin Moar of Crane River, Manitoba passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2026 at the age of 86 years.
We all have a story to tell, we will try to tell his. Irvin J. Moar was born to the late John Moar and Marguerite Dumas (Nee: Morrisseau).
Let's begin....
As a little boy, dad was known to have an enquiring mind. As a young lad, he was notorious to snoop around and be nosy. Because of his curiosity, the older kinfolk branded him the nickname "MUSKRAT".
the house he knew as his home became his classroom and life lessons were learned from the land. With his soft voice, gentle demeanor, he unknowingly prepared himself to enter the workforce.
In dad's humble beginnings, his work history started at the CN Rail. The risk of applying and being hired was a brave move, but for him, it was worth it. To dad, the benefits outweighed the risks. From there, he moved to Uranium City, SK and pursued a job in the ore mine. After a few years working there, he took his attainments and returned back to Manitoba where his resided and worked in St. Anne's. He moved to Toutes Aides for a while and worked in a garage until he found himself working in construction as a drywaller and taper. He mastered his craft and his hard work paid off.
His job took him to various parts of the country from Ontario all the way to BC. And with that, came a lot of everlasting friendships that he made along the way. Dad did a lot of ground travel and he was able to see the beauty Canada had to offer. He worked hard all of his life, and the creases and callouses on his hands were proof that he had a life of hard work.
Apart from work, dad showcased many of his qualities and talents. As a young man, he learned to sing and play the guitar. Whether it be in church or at home, he belted out a tune so beautiful for anyone willing to listen. The strum of his guitar and the echo of his voice will forever be missed. He was seen to be a feather on his feet when he would dance a fancy two-step or the collaboration of a good ole square dance. The fire of the fiddle would awaken his heart and put the rhythm in his step. He took pride in his yard and his work was praised by all that came to visit.
He loved his garden and wasn't afraid to get his fingernails dirty from the dirt. And as with all men, dabbling in their work sheds was daily routine... no questions asked. He appreciated a good game of bingo or a winning hand at cards. The love and laughter shared around the kitchen table will resonate memories for many years to come. And let's not forget to mention the cheering clang of a bottle or two.
Dad faced his fair share of health issues throughout his lifetime. His journey wasn't easy. He embraced each battle and fought many wars with strength and fortitude. He never became angry. Even in his illness, he exemplified dignity, grace a courage. To the end, he fought a great fight, he sought victory and his battle was won. For he is back in the arms of his wife, walking with his parents and all of the family and friends who have taken this journey before him.

PAPA
Our papa was a very private man till his passing, he was never one to speak of his younger years and when we asked questions as to why this or that he’d often say: yup it was hard and ya I lived and loved who ever I cross paths with. I’m sure and very positive he had more stories to tell but unfortunately, he took that book with him.
Papa and his sweetheart, Josephine, shared a love of 44 years together a milestone only a few can accomplish, I’m not saying everything was perfect, but they did it… together!
Our Papa took our Mom’s family as his own, we didn’t see eye to eye most days but with his consistent love and support we knew deep down he was not only our stepfather but he was our Dad, the one that we can count on when our own lives were going through turmoil or our accomplishments, he was thereon the sidelines cheering us on or giving us the support when we needed it.
Papa had a strong love for his pets, his little bff Bobbi was his sidekick, wherever papa went you can sure bet Bobbi was with him, his heart shattered when he lost his beloved Bobbi, he’d often say Nope I’m not having another pet but as time grew, we found his little girl Rosie.. we all knew she was and still is The Boss!
As I stand before you all today, our Papa was one of the greatest men we know. His love taught us to forgive, his forgiveness taught us the value of friendship, and more importantly he gave us unconditional Love!
Rest easy Dad, your hard-working hands have definitely earned their wings. Love you!
