Iris Trotz Obituary

Iris Helen Trotz “I” at the age of 78 years old of Dauphin Manitoba received her angel wings January 1, 2022, at 11:35pm and went peacefully with the Lord to join her father, mother, brother and sisters in heaven.

Iris (Mom, Momma, Grandma) you will be greatly missed by her husband of 60 years Ernie, Son Barry (Kim) Trotz, daughter Kim (Gary) Streng, grandchildren: Shalan (Lebraun), Tyson a.k.a. Slava, Tiana (Liz), Nolan, Kyler, Brody, Macie: and her great granddaughter Aureila.

Iris (Mom) was predeceased by her parents Nick and Jean Zulak, brother Morris (Moe), and sisters Sally, Nancy and Shirley.

Born In 1943, in Ethelbert Manitoba is where she lived and later would meet the love of her life Ernie. They were married on July 29th 1961 in Ethelbert, Manitoba. They moved to Winnipeg where they had their first child Barry in 1962.  In 1967 they moved to Dauphin and had their second child Kim in 1975. Dauphin is where they would lay roots down, “Call Home” and raise their children.

Iris worked at Canada Post in Winnipeg and when they moved to Dauphin, she worked at the Towers Hotel where she remained until she retired.

Iris loved gardening, flowers, cooking, baking, Kinsmen Bingo and loved to entertain family and friends. She enjoyed listening to Ukrainian and Country Music. She loved attending Dauphins National Ukrainian Festival, Dauphin Country Festival, community events and fall suppers. She enjoyed watching her son and grandchildren’s sporting activities and was their biggest fan.  She loved to get togethers, good meals, drinks and night caps with friends and family. ‘I” loved to have a good time, loved dancing, and laughing and had an incredible smile. Iris always had an open-door policy. She was very proud of her family and taught her kids that nothing is more important than family. This is the legacy she leaves behind for her children and grandchildren.

Special thanks to Aunty Anne and Uncle Merv Odut for always helping to be a pillar of strength to mom and dad and us here in Dauphin. Mike Penrose for the thoughtfulness and caring of our mom’s medical needs over the years. Father Oleg Bodnarski for the anointment and last rights. To the nurses at the ICU and Palliative care who were so thoughtful and caring and keeping our mom comfortable. Your love and support will never be forgotten.

Mom you were the best Wife, Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma!! You put so much love and energy into our family. We have so many memories that fill our hearts and we will cherish. Your presence will be so greatly missed. We know although you are no longer with us on earth you will continue to walk beside us and guide us! We will work hard to continue to honor your legacy. We love you and miss you……………………until we meet again!
