Iris Musey Obituary

With profound grief the family of Iris Ann Musey announce her unexpected passing on December 12, 2024 at home in Roblin, MB.  Our hearts are forever broken.

Iris was born December 24, 1947 on the family farm in Merridale to Harry & Lena Boguski.  She was the second youngest of seven children.  She attended Merridale School and later attended Roblin Collegiate.

Growing up on the farm was not without its hardships.  There were tribulations also.  Iris and her sister Ann ventured to Saskatchewan to Sam’s Dance Spot where Iris met Morris Musey in August 1965.  The rest is history.

Iris & Morris were united in holy matrimony on January 27, 1967 in Roblin, MB.  They began their life together on the farm in Venlaw, MB.  In the mid 1970’s they purchased a new home and moved to the Musey family farm beside Baba and Gido Musey.  There they built a mixed farm.  The Gardens were bountiful and flowers a plenty.  Their first daughter Sharon was born in June 1967.

Angela was born November 1975 and their family was complete.  Iris and Morris continued farming even as ill health befell upon Morris.  Mom’s unwavering devotion to dad through his illness was a testament to their enduring love.  In the mid 1990’s they made the difficult decision to downsize the farm – selling cattle and parcels of land.

Grandchildren started the next chapter of Iris & Morris’s life.  Kaitlyn, Jessica, Mathew, Jordan and Teagan brought tremendous joy to Iris.  Visits to Baba’s were eagerly anticipated.  No one left Baba’s house empty handed whether it was perogies, cabbage rolls or ice cream money for the grandkids.

Following Morris’s death in 2003, Iris obtained her drivers license enabling her independence of going to town and meeting up with friends.  In 2004 Iris made the decision to retire to Roblin to be nearer to Angela and her two sisters.

Faith and culture were important aspects of Iris’s life.  She became a member of ST. John the Baptist Church and the women’s association.  She made and renewed many friendships along the way as well as pinching many (hundreds) of perogies.

Iris leaves to mourn her passing, daughters Sharon (Brian) McEachran and Angela Addis (Cori); brother Mike (Tillie) Bogusky; sister Ann (Don) Lannoo; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family.
Mourning the loss of their Baba are Kaitlyn, Jessica, Mathew, Jordan, Teagan, Rio and Holden.

Iris was predeceased by her mother Lena; father Harry, beloved husband Morris; sisters Mildred, Elizabeth, and Elsie; and brother Roy.
