Irene Marie Amanda MacCarthy passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home in Ste Rose du Lac.
Irene was born March 20, 1935, to parents, Maurice Pelletier and Antoinette Pelletier.(nee Neault), the 2nd eldest of their 4 children with her older brother Emile and younger siblings Dennis Pelletier and her sister Paulette Delaurier. Irene received her education at Saint Patrick’s School. She married Luke MacCarthy on February 11, 1956. She loved many hobbies, such as archery, cooking, quadding, curling, knitting, fishing, playing bingo and playing cards. She very much enjoyed visiting with family and friends and loved dressing up for Halloween and Christmas time when she could put on a Santa suit every Christmas. Irene was involved in community life. She was proud to be recognized as an MMF Elder and lived in Ste Rose du Lac all of her life
Irene was predeceased by her spouse, Luke MacCarthy; parents Maurice and Antoinette Pelletier, her in-laws Dane and Francis MacCarthy; daughter Merle Nicholson; grandchildren Ryan Nicholson; brother Emile Pelletier; sister Paulette Delaurier; daughter-in-law Roxanne MacCarthy; son-in-law Larry Jastrebski, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Irene leaves to mourn her passing and cherish many wonderful memories: her family; daughter Joanne and Richard Rank; daughter Lynn Jastrebski; son-in-law Ken Nicholson; son Robert and Jackie MacCarthy; son Mark MacCarthy and Sheila Bendell Nadiak; son Allan and Celina MacCarthy and daughter Shelley and Daniel Warrener; her 18 grandchildren Derek, Travis, and Devon Rank; Kristie, Tracey and Tyson Jastrebski; Jill, Chelsea, and Dane Nicholson; Karlie, Kassandra and Dane MacCarthy; Kimberley and Michael MacCarthy; Craig and Candace MacCarthy; Drake and Dana Warrener; her 32 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private celebration of Irene's life will be held.
Our family would like to thank the staff of the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home for the wonderful care Irene received. She considered you all her friends. Thank you to Dr. O’Hagan for 40 years of exceptional care. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
