Ian Livingston Obituary

Ian William Livingston passed away peacefully with his family by his bedside on the family farm, where he was raised and lived up to his passing after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Ian is survived by his wife of 39 years, Arla Lucille (Waggoner) Livingston; four children: Kyna Livingston, Meghan (Randy) Tucker, Jonathan (Deanna Griffitts) Livingston, Andrew (Kelsey Labossiere) Livingston; four grandchildren: Kane and Jenessa Livingston, Xander and Cadence Tucker; sister Diane (Art) Skibinsky; brother Garth (Hope Cockerill) Livingston; sister in-law Verla Kostick; and brother in-law Leigh Waggoner. Not to forget the many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ian was predeceased by his father and mother, William and Jean (McTavish) Livingston.

Ian was born in Roblin Hospital and grew up in the Tummel District on the family farm.  Growing up, Ian enjoyed curling, skiing, camping, trapping, hunting, and fishing. Being outdoors and farming was his greatest joy, next to his beloved family.  He went to Brandon University majoring in Biology and Geography.  Part way through he realized the farm is where he wanted to be.  He took a job at Limestone, MB to build a hydro dam on the Nelson River.  He returned to Roblin in 1975 to purchase three quarters of land near the Boggy Creek Valley close to family farm.  In 1976, he returned to Brandon to take carpentry at Assiniboine Community College.  After college, he began working in Yorkton while also farming.  Ian was an avid trapper in winter, whether it was trapping beavers on the lakes behind the family farm or coyotes in the dense underbrush of the Boggy Creek Valley.  Ian loved and respected all animals, wild and domestic.  Ian was very much a homebody and enjoyed the sanctuary of his home and farm.  Ian met Arla Waggoner in 1979 and they were married on August 1st, 1981.  In November of 1981, they moved to the family farm where they raised their four children.

Ian was laid to rest in the Deer Park Cemetery, next to the Tummel United Church, on February 6, 2021. with Rev. Karen Kuzek officiating.  Pallbearers were Andrew Livingston, Jonathan Livingston, Daniel Skibinsky, Bob Dayson, Randy Tucker and Michael Kendrick. Honorary Pallbearers were Kevin Livingston, Garth Livingston, David Skibinsky, Art Skibinsky, Blair Waggoner, Lee Waggoner and all his friends and family.
