Helen Kufley Obituary

Helen Doreen Kufley

Helen Doreen Kufley (nee Fishley) passed away peacefully on July 27, 2022 at the Ste. Rose General Hospital at the age of 81 years.  Her grandsons surrounded her as the angels came, wrapped their arms around her and took her home.

She was predeceased by her parents Jessie in 1972, Fred in 1975, her sisters Pearl, Jessie, Hazel, Reta and her brothers Gillis, Bruce, Freddie, John and Stewart.

Helen leaves to mourn her passing and cherish many fond memories; her sons Kyle (Jeannine) of Ste. Rose , Bob of Brandon, and Greg (Valli) of Winnipeg, her 8 grandchildren Daelynn, Cody, Kelvin, Korbin, Samuel, Nathan (Angela), Dereck, Samantha and her 3 great grandchildren Piper, Tracy Lynn and Tristen.  She will be remembered by her sisters Ruby and Wilma, her brother Blake, her sisters-in-law Rose and Anna along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Helen was born on April 10, 1941 in Bethune, SK where she grew up on the family farm.  She was the 13th of 13 children.  She attended Westridge public school.  In 1959, Helen moved to Oshawa, Ontario where she worked for General Motors in the plant, doing sewing of the interiors of the automobiles.  In 1970, she met Ernie Kufley through the local dating newspaper.  They were married in 1971 and moved to Thompson, MB.  They had a son Kyle, born in November of 1977, her pride and joy.

Helen worked at the Trappers Tavern as the bartender/waitress until 1988.  In the summer of 1988, they moved to Gilbert Plains where she continued working as a bartender until 2000.  Helen took care of the family home and helped with their organic gardens.  After 29 years of marriage, it wasn't meant to be and Helen moved to Dauphin and bought her own mobile home at the McGimpsey Trailer Park.  She was very proud of her trailer which she called home for 17 years.  We will treasure the memories we made during all the renos as a family.  Helen moved to the Trois Villas in Ste Rose in 2019 where she lived until her passing.  She made numerous friends and enjoyed playing cards and bingo with them.

Helen's biggest joy was her family, nothing made her happier.

Dear Lord,
Put Your arms around her,
Hold her in Your tender care,
Make up to her for all she suffered
And all she had to bear.
She went through so much in silence
Her spirits didn't bend'
She faced her pain with courage
Until the very end.
It broke our hearts to lose her,
But she didn't go alone
For part of us went with her
The day God called her home.
