Helen Cottick Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Helen Cottick (nee Dzisiak) on July 22, 2025, at the age of 93 at St. Paul’s Personal Care Home in Dauphin, Manitoba.

Helen was the daughter of John and Mary Dzisiak and grew up on the family farm at Belle Creek close to Ethelbert, Manitoba. She spoke fondly of her sisters who moved to the city and sent her parcels of beautiful clothing, which was so difficult to get in those hard times. This is where mom’s sense and love for fashion started. In 1950 Helen married Joe Cottick and together they raised seven children. They farmed successfully in the Mossey River area for 46 years. Mom ‘s life was a testament to dedication, hard work and unwavering love for her family. Born and raised with a deep connection to the land, she found her greatest joy in nurturing her large family and tending the farm in Fork River. Helen ‘s passions were many, but the two closest to her heart were her family and the farm, which flourished under her watchful eye and boundless energy.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children; Florine (Emiel) Dahms, Mary (Leo) Seniuk, son-in-law Kim Gibson, Joe (Cindy) Cottick JR., Dean (Gwen Hryhoruk) Cottick, and Glen (Judy) Cottick.

Helen was also blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren who were a constant source of joy to her; Sheila (Mario) Pereira and Christopher, Alexandra and Nicholas; Tony Filleti and Alyssa, Anthony; Jana (Ken) Siepman and Xander, Avianna; Rob Seniuk; Shaylan (Fez Hasan); Shantal, Shanessa and Sharaina Cottick; Degan Hryhoruk-Cottick; Kendra Cottick.

Helen was predeceased by her husband Joe SR. She also joins in eternal rest with her daughters Judy Filleti and Shirley Cottick; son-in-law Giuseppe Filleti and grandson Reid Cottick; her siblings Mike (Antonia); Bill; Anne (Michael) Shevy; James; Peter; George (Katherin); Nellie (Melvin) Carson; Mary (Alex) Shutka; and infant brother Nick.

“There is love that will live forever, and there are memories that will shine through the sorrow.”
