Gwendolyn "June" Chickoski

It is with heavy hearts we said our goodbyes to our mother Gwendolynn June Chickoski who passed away June 16, 2025.

Mom was born on October 11,1937 to John and Julia Stolar in Battleford, SK. Mom lost her father at the young age of 3 yrs. Her mother needed to get work to provide for her so mom was raised on the family farm by her grandparents Cornelius and Kathleen Ripka where she could be with her grandparents and many aunts and uncles and play with her cousins.

Her mother Julia remarried Andrew Minda who was a railway man and then the family was reunited and they resided in many small towns in Saskatchewan and finally settled back in Battleford, SK.

Mom married Brendan Carroll and together they raised 4 children, Sharon, Jerry, Cathy and Andrea. Dad was in the Air Force so they spent time in Summerside, PEI, Winnipeg, MB, Edmonton, AB, Goose Bay, NFLD and Shilo, MB. Upon retirement we all moved to Brandon, MB.

Mom was employed in many of the mess halls on the military bases we lived and she was an amazing cook and an even better baker! Mom also enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing cards, bowling, tending to her flower garden and she was also an avid reader.

Mom and dad parted ways in 1999 and Mom found love again and married Larry Chickoski in Moose Jaw, SK on July 23, 2003. They eventually moved to Kelowna, BC to enjoy the milder winters in their retirement years.

Mom was predeceased by her father John Stolar, mother and stepfather Julia and Andrew Minda, our father Brendan Carroll and her second husband Larry Chickoski.

She leaves to mourn her children Sharon (Fareed) Ahamed and their children Darin and Inaya; Jerry Carroll and fiance Norma Nellas; Cathy (Ron)Gerry and  children Stephen, Christopher (Tavis) and great grandchildren Sebastian, Jason and Serena; Andi (Rob) Kukurudz and children Ryan, Justin (Caitlin) and great grandchildren Zayna and Leon and Rebekah (Lee) Gorowski. Also left to mourn are Larry’s children Dena (Doug) Evans; Dawn (Joe) Silva and a special friend to mom and Larry, Hailey Lytton.

Cremation has taken place and Mom will be buried with Larry and their beloved pets Radar and Kritter during a private family service.
