Gregory Lavallee Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gregory Paul Lavelle who left us peacefully on August 11, 2025, at the age of 75.

Born in Fort Qu’Appelle, SK on November 1, 1949, Greg was the beloved son of the late Ethel and Alphonse Lavallee.

In Greg ‘s early years, he lived the farm life in Weyburn, SK, but his childhood adventure soon took him to Winnipeg, MB, where he grew up alongside his siblings. Winnipeg became the backdrop for much of his young life and early adulthood. Over the years, Greg held various jobs. He was also in the Air Force for a short period of time.  He talked about all his jobs from being a carnival worker, machine worker to working as a lead hand on a farm in Dauphin, MB.  With his quick wit, warm heart and that unmistakable big smile, Greg had way of brightening every room he entered. He was a storyteller, a joker and a friend.  His voice often carried a joke, a kind word or a hardy laugh. He will be remembered always.

Greg was a proud father to his son Christopher Lavallee of Winnipeg MB and his daughter, Sheryl Lavallee Kennedy and husband Robert Kennedy of Sudbury, ON. He was an adoring grandfather to Tevin Laquette and Oliver Lavallee of Winnipeg, Tyler and Amber Kennedy of Sudbury ON. His love for his family was constant and deep.

Over the years, Greg ‘s heart was also home to many beloved pets - from his childhood dog porky to licorice, (affectionately called Licky) and his most recent, “Lucky” the puppy he welcomed at Christmas. Greg loved all his animals, including his horses and cats. Greg ‘s compassion for animals, was a defining part of who he was. In his own words, I love my job of caring for them and my other animals. I love all my pets and don’t want to let someone else care for them because they will run away from them.

For the past 30+ years great called Dauphin home, where he built a life filled with familiar faces and quiet routines on the comfort of the farm.  Through the mid part of Greg ‘s life, he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer where he battled to survive and did. Unfortunately, the cancer did come back in recent years.

Greg is predeceased by his loving parents Ethel and Alphonse Lavallee and two nephews.

He leaves behind his cherished children and their mother Carmen Buckner; his grandchildren; his siblings Michele and Randy Lavallee, Gary and Barb Stevenson, Tim Lavallee, Shawn and Tawyna Lavallee, Barb and Jerry Stevenson, Christine (Dave) Piche, Alphonse Lavallee, Joy and Dean Amundson, Mavis Amyotte and family who was always there to help Greg.

Greg ‘s life is one of laughter, love and loyalty to his family and friends and animals. He will be remembered for his kindness and humor in the way he made every person feel welcome in his presence.

May his memory continue to bring smiles to those who loved him just as he brought smiles to so many during his time here.

The family will celebrate Gregory's life privately.
