Glenn Chychota Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Glenn Stephen Chychota on March 16, 2019 at the age of 52 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Glenn was born on November 10, 1966 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to his loving parents Roger Chychota and the late Donna Chychota (nee Flammond). Glenn was a beautiful, happy baby who brought so much joy to his parent’s lives. The family lived in St. Norbert until they moved to Dauphin in 1969. Their family was complete when they were blessed with Glenn’s sister Michelle and his brother James.

The family lived in Dauphin until 1976 when they moved into their new home close to the family farm near Sifton. As a young boy, Glenn spent a lot of his time helping with chores and learning the ropes from his parents and grandparents. When he wasn’t working on the farm, Glenn spent a lot of his time riding dirt bikes and snowmobiles, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Glenn attended school in Dauphin where he made many life long friends and met his high school sweetheart, and the late love of his life Kimberley Chychota (nee Willcock).

On March 12, 1988, Glenn and Kim were blessed with the arrival of their first son, Stephen Douglas Chychota. Stephen was the happiest baby and he absolutely loved being the centre of attention. He was also the most adorable ring bearer when Glenn and Kim were married on July 22, 1989.

On November 29, 1991, Glenn and Kim’s family was complete when their baby boy, Sean Glenn Chychota was born. Sean was a handsome little guy and quickly became his big brother’s shadow. Glenn’s boys were so important to him and his love and pride for them was clear to anyone who knew him.

Glenn spent a lot of time “trying” to teach the boys how to farm and while they didn’t grow up to take over it themselves, they did learn a lot of valuable lessons from Glenn about hard work. Glenn also enjoyed coaching hockey for both boys and was always their biggest supporter.

Family was so important to Glenn and he was blessed to go on so many adventures with Kim and the boys. They loved going on ski trips, fishing trips and we think Glenn even enjoyed when they drove for 2 straight days, in a packed truck, with the whole family all the way to Texas.

For nearly 20 years, Glenn enjoyed his summers at the family cabin where he spent a lot of time fishing, boating, riding his Sea-doo, island hopping, and enjoying bonfires with family and friends. The cabin was one of Glenn’s favorite places to be and he was blessed to have made so many wonderful memories there.

Glenn was a jack of all trades and had many different career interests over the years. Farming was always important to him and the boys can recall how much Glenn loved his cows and reflected fondly upon his family farm memories. Glenn was also very proud to have built and operated his own set of hog barns, Glennview Feeders. After farming, Glenn went on to become a sheriff and later established his own advertising business. Most recently, Glenn decided to take the courses that he needed to become a real estate agent. He passed all of them and officially all he had left was to purchase his license. We were all so proud of him and he was very excited about his new venture.

In 2016, Glenn bought his home at Ochre Beach where he, his partner Crystal Vandenbosch and her daughter Kendall Scrase were able to make many special memories together. Glenn enjoyed his time with the girls and they both had a special place in his heart.

Glenn fulfilled one of his dreams in 2016 when he bought himself a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle. In the summer of 2017, Glenn and his brother James went on a nearly 10,000-kilometer multi-state tour of the USA and it truly was one of the best experiences of his life.

Glenn was such a strong man and he lived his life to the fullest. Glenn always kept such a positive attitude and was never afraid to go after his dreams. His silly personality and ability to laugh brought joy to all of those around him. Glenn was the best son, brother, husband, dad, uncle and friend that anyone could ever ask for and we will truly miss him.

Glenn was predeceased by his mother, Donna Chychota (nee Flammond), his loving wife Kimberley Chychota (nee Willcock) and his father-in-law Doug Willcock. He leaves behind his son Stephen and wife Nikki, his son Sean and girlfriend Natasha Chicheluk, his partner Crystal and her daughter Kendall and his dog Bailey. He also leaves behind his father Roger Chychota; brother James Chychota and wife Julie; his sister Michelle Chita and husband Brian along with their children Breanne, Joshua, and Nathan; also, his mother-in-law Diane Willcock; his brother-in-law Kent Willcock and his wife Michelle and their daughter Emma; as well as many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dauphin & District Snowmobile Club, Intermountain Sport Fishing Enhancement, Dauphin Regional Hospital Foundation for Palliative Care Enhancement, or a charity of your choice.
