Gail Marie Hardman

On April 15, 2025 Gail Marie died peacefully in her adoptive home in Lubbock Texas. Gail was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Lena Hardman, and is survived by her siblings Sheri Lyn, Wendy, (Robert), Holly, Heather, (Russell), Harriett and John (Bernice).

Gail came into the world with the helping hand of Dr McLennan, on a cold day in January 1954. Gail grew up on the Hardman family farm and attended the one room Bay Center School until it closed in 1967, she completed her school in Dauphin. Since Gail was so bright she finished school at 17 and went off to take Psychiatric Nursing in Brandon, frustrated that she could not hang out with the adults for a year. After graduating from Psych Nursing she worked in Brandon.

Gail then moved to Winnipeg where she attended the University of Manitoba where she completed a Bachelor of Nursing in 1979. After graduating Gail went to Vancouver to work for a year enjoying the cool urban life and trying out skiing like all of the cool kids. She always looked good on the ski hill even if she wasn't a good skier.

In October of 1980 Gail was involved in a single car accident that changed her life forever. Gail was severely injured during the accident and was a paraplegic confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Even with her devastating injury Gail continued on with her life with dedication, hard work and cheerfulness. Gail worked as a Nurse Educator in Manitoba and in Alberta from 1981 to 1995. During those years she was a favorite Auntie to all of her nieces and nephews that lived in Alberta.

In 1995 Gail was headhunted by the Lubbock General Hospital in Lubbock Texas to work as a nurse continuing educator. Gail being the adventuress soul packed off all of her belongings and moved to Texas. It did not take Gail very long to make great friends and to become part of the community. Gail had a special place in the hearts of the Canadian boys that played hockey for the Lubbock Cotton Kings.

Gail retired on a disability pension from the hospital in 2010 and she continued to live in her house in Lubbock until her passing. Gail was an inspiration to everyone who knew her with her optimism, kindness, caring, good spirits and an unbounded faith in her Lord Jesus.

A Graveside Service was held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 2:00pm from the Riverside Cemetery in Dauphin, MB.
