Fred Antoshko Obituary

Fred Antoshko, age 95 years of Dauphin, MB passed away with his family at his side on May 19, 2020.

Fred was born on Good Friday, April 10, 1925 on the farm in Fishing River, MB.  He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Amelia, daughter Sheila and husband Glen Williams and son Bryan and wife Janet Antoshko (nee Allard), his grandchildren Matthew and Madison Antoshko, all of Winnipeg step-grandchildren Shawn, Brett and Robin Williams of Calgary and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents Sam and Mary and siblings John and wife Sophie, Andrew and wife Ann, Jim (Hnat), sister Lena and husband Bill Yaschyshyn and sister Elsie and husband Tony Burkowski.

Fred attended Norton School, but his love was farming.  Anyone who knew him, knew that if he could choose a place to be, it would be working the land, driving his John Deere AR tractor.  Fred and Amy were married in 1951 in Sifton, MB.  Soon after, they moved to Dauphin.  Fred worked for many years as a bottler at Pepsi and they continued to farm.  He spent 17 years as the owner/operator of the Turbo gas station, where he made many friends over the years.  He retired in 1994 and after his retirement, enjoyed building beautiful outdoor swings, picnic tables and planters.  He loved building things and spending time with his family. Home was his favorite place and he would always tell us there is no place like home.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, May 23 at 11:00 at the Dauphin Riverside Cemetery with Father Oleg Bodnarski officiating.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jason Scott for his care and compassion over many years, especially over the recent days, Father Oleg for officiating and Sonny Moroz of the Sneath Strilchuk Family Care Center for his guidance.
