Florence Lintick Obituary

It is with deep sadness that the family announce the passing of Florence Evelyn Lintick (Thomas).  Florence passed away with members of her family by her side on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the Dauphin Personal Care Home at the age of 87.

Florence was born January 30th, 1936 in Dauphin, MB, she was the oldest of two girls born to John and Evelyn Thomas.  Florence met the love of her life, Leonard Lintick, and they were married on September 4th, 1954.  They moved to Wycliffe, ON shortly after, where they lived until 1960.  During that period, Trent, Terry & Nadine were born.  Florence was quite busy as there was no running water or plumbing in Wycliffe, so you could imagine how occupied she was with keeping track of 3 young children in the bush (as there were only 2 houses and no roads in) and cooking with no running water.  In 1960 they moved back to Dauphin and were blessed with one more child, Tim.  At one point in their married life as Florence and Len were getting older, Len suggested that they maybe downsize to an apartment.  Florence wanted no part of this as she truly loved her home and was happy there.  She resided in her home until her ill health forced them to relocate.

Mom's lifestyle was simple; in summer in earlier years she loved to go camping and fishing, especially at Manipogo Beach.  Golfing was another activity where she spent countless summers camping in Gilbert Plains.  Summers were spent tending to her flower gardens and in winter Florence spent her time reading, doing puzzles, crocheting, knitting and just listening to old country music.  After Len retired, they became snowbirds and spent much of their winters in Texas and Arizona.  Time was also spent at Vancouver Island and Osoyoos in BC.  No matter where Florence spent her winters, she was always anxious and happy to get home as this is where she truly loved to be and was the happiest.

Left to cherish fond and happy memories are her 4 children; Trent Lintick, Terry & Shannon Lintick and family, Nadine & Gordon Strang and family, all of Dauphin, and Tim Lintick and family of Esterhazy, SK.  There are 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  Also surviving is her brother-in-law Larry Lintick of Esterhazy, SK, many nephews, nieces and extended family.

Florence was predeceased by her husband Len, her parents John & Evelyn Thomas, her in-laws Kenneth & Anne Marie Lintick, daughter-in-law Delora Lintick, sister Barbara & her husband Johnny Penner.

Florence was very proud of her family and she especially loved to hear stories of her grandchildren.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her.  She will be deeply missed.

A Memorial Service was held for Florence on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 1:00 pm from the Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin with Pastor Scott Allen officiating.

Interment followed in the Riverside Cemetery - Dauphin.
