Florence Berkvens
Obituary
Florence Berkvens of Dauphin passed away on June 8, 2022 at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre, at the age of 93 years.
Florence was born at Ochre River on August 15, 1928 to Leonard and Therese Berkvens. She was the ninth of ten children. The family lived on a farm west of Ste. Rose where as a child she enjoyed the rural lifestyle. She attended Roxton School two miles away from the farm. After graduating, Florence stayed on the farm and helped in all aspects of its operation. She was especially gifted at being able to bake the most delicious bread for the family.
Florence, her brother Fred and sister Mary eventually took over operation of the family farm as their parents aged. After Fred was injured in an accident they moved to Dauphin in 1990.
Florence was predeceased by her parents, three brothers, and six sisters.
Left to mourn and cherish fond memories are six nephews and two nieces.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Dauphin Regional Health Centre for their care of Florence in her final days.
Cremation has taken place and a family interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Dauphin at a later date. Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
