Evelyn Philippot

Evelyn Marie Irene Philippot of Ste. Rose du Lac passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home at the age of 93 years.  

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Henri, her son Daniel and numerous siblings.  

She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish many fond memories; her daughter Angele Sutherland of Winnipeg, her son Gilles of Winnipeg, her grandsons Ashley and Tyler Sutherland of Winnipeg and her great grandchildren Skyler and Zayden, her sister Murielle Neault along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.  

Evelyn was born in the RM of Lawrence on September 6, 1926 to Henri and Rebecca Fortin (nee Rondeau).  She was raised on the family farm and received her education at the Horyn school.  On November 5, 1946, Evelyn married Henri Philippot and they lived on the family farm until they retired to Ste. Rose du Lac in 1980.  

Evelyn enjoyed knitting, beginning as a young child in making clothing items for family members and then making Mary Maxim sweaters.  She enjoyed cooking and spent many summers working at the concession stand at Manipogo Beach.  Once Evelyn and Henri retired to Ste. Rose, she became a member of Ste. Rose de Lima Parish and spent many hours enjoying the Jolly Club. Evelyn enjoyed bingo and loved playing cards with her friends at the Trois Villas. Evelyn was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed.   

Family was very important to Evelyn.  Evelyn enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with those she loved most.  Many wonderful times were spent around the supper table sharing stories and playing games. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She will always be remembered in the hearts of those who knew her as a kind and caring person.  She will be missed.  

Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 10:30 AM from Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church, Ste. Rose du Lac, MB 

Interment in the Ste. Rose Cemetery.
