Ernest Mouck Obituary

Ernest James Mouck of Gilbert Plains, Manitoba passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the age of 81 years.

Ernie was born and raised in Dauphin, MB to Vernon and Bertha (Hodges).  Ernie, along with his father, operated service stations in Dauphin and Edmonton, AB.

On June 30, 1960 Ernie married Lucy Szmon of Gilbert Plains in Edmonton, Alberta.  In 1966 they moved to Gilbert Plains where Ernie was the branch manager of Royalite Oil Co. (later becoming Gulf Oil).  In 1972, after completing his long-distance education with the University of Manitoba, Ernie became the Secretary-Treasurer for the Village of Gilbert Plains.  He took great pride in this position which he held for 26 years.

During this time he was actively involved in the community he loved.  He volunteered with the Ambulance & Fire Departments, Kinsmen, K-40, boards for the Centennial Park, the Sunset Lodge and so much more.  Ernie also loved his time farming with his son Butch near Venlaw.  They raised cattle, sheep and pigs.

Ernie loved watching and listening to hockey and football games.  His favorite teams being the Dauphin Kings, Winnipeg Jets, Winnipeg Blue Bombers and then any teams his grandchildren and great-grandsons were playing on.  He was very proud of all their accomplishments and would share stories of all of them with anyone who listened.

Ernie was pre-deceased by his wife Lucy on March 22, 2003, and both of his parents.

He is survived by his sister Edna Deibert of Winnipeg, son Butch Mouck and Therese Deah of Gilbert Plains, daughter Arleigh Mouck and Gerry Winters of Portage la Prairie, grandson Travis & Cayley Mouck (Ronin, Kenai & Bella) of Gilbert Plains, granddaughter Jenna Mouck & Ryan Dodington (Becca) of Regina, SK, grandson Jesse & Meagan Barnett (Lincoln & Hailey) of Brandon, grandson Maxwell & Sabrina Barnett (Leo) of Somerton, England, as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In keeping with Ernest's request, cremation will take place with a private family graveside to be held at a later date.
