Emil Dudar Obituary

Knowing the love of his family was surrounding him, Emil John Dudar, age 96, formerly of Ethelbert, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on April 11th, 2024 at Dauphin, Manitoba.

Emil was predeceased by his wife Stella, children MaryAnne, Dennis, Shirley, Tracy, Donnie and David, brothers Harold & Bill and sister Emily.

Emil is survived by his children Lawrence (Sue), Gordon (Connie), Brian (Malena), Carol, Darryl (Pam) and Larry (Sheila). He is also survived by his sons-in-law Al & Al, daughter in law Darlene and sister Sally (Dennis). Emil leaves behind 22 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren who will cherish their memories of their Gido. There are numerous extended family members who will also mourn his loss.

Emil was born on January 20, 1928 to Max and Nellie Dudar.  He attended Damery School until grade 8. Emil was a great help to his dad on the family farm doing anything that needed to be done. Even though Emil’s heart was with the land and the family farm, he ventured out on his own for a while going to work at Ilford, Manitoba where he worked at a local store unloading the supply train, cutting and splitting wood and general labor duties.

Before long, Emil’s eye was caught by a beautiful teacher. On March 17th, 1957, Emil married Stella Monita. They raised 9 children on the family homestead in the Ethelbert area. Emil always had a love of the farm, whether it was working with the horses, minding the cattle or working the land. He expanded his farming operation by acquiring more land. To provide for his growing family Dad raised milk cows, provided firewood for others, cut pulp and raised and sold chickens. He kept expanding his farming operation, moving into the Kulish area.

Dad had a love of the outdoors. He spent many hours hunting around the Duck Mountains with many hunting partners, especially Victor, with whom he had many adventures.

Sunday was a day of rest, which included taking the whole family to church. Some outings after church included a family picnic at River Hill on the way to Blue Lakes or going blueberry, saskatoon or cranberry picking. Dad loved getting together with family and friends. He especially enjoyed watching the younger ones play and could often be seen with a smile on his face as he watched them.

Emil’s strong faith carried him through the many hardships and celebrations that he endured throughout his life. He continued to practice his faith to the very end.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Dauphin Personal Care Home for their attentive care in Dad’s last years.
