Elise Dolores Zytnyk (nee Gamache)

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Elise Zytnyk on November 9th 2020 at the age of 83. Elise was a kindhearted and loving soul, she was the heart of our family.

Elise was born on July 21st 1937 as one of 9 children raised in Laurier Manitoba. At the age of 18 in 1955, she moved to Winnipeg to work at the Fort Garry Hotel where she met Alexander Zytnyk, they married the following year. Elise and Alec lived in Winnipeg for 45 years, they not only raised three children but they opened their home to many family members over the years as well as foster children.

Elise will always be remembered for her big heart and generous spirit. When she wasn't hosting friends and family at their home in Winnipeg or cabin in Lac du Bonnet, she was sewing or knitting clothing, blankets and other gifts for her cherished loved ones.

In 2003 Elise and Alec retired to McCreary Manitoba, Elise was happy to be back in the Parkland area where she grew up and had many relatives still residing there. Even in her later years Elise remained a social butterfly, if there was a family gathering you can bet that she would do her best to be there, she loved to laugh, sing and dance.

Elise is survived by her husband Alexander, her children Michael, Stanley and Catherine, her grandchildren Phillip (Ashley), Amanda (Ari) and Michelle (Ian),

5 great grandchildren, 4 siblings and various extended relatives.

Due to the pandemic, a funeral service was not held.   Interment was held on Thursday, November 12th in the Laurier Cemetery attended by her children

Elise was predeceased by her parents Lorenzo and Rolande, her siblings Lionel, Odile, Ernest and Florence and her grandson Andrew. We know in our hearts that she was welcomed into heaven by all of them.
