Eglantine (Breland) Zastre 

Peacefully, with her family by her side, Eglantine Breland Zastre passed away at 4:05 am on Friday, April 25, 2025. She was 101 years old. Eglantine was born in Ste Rose du Lac Manitoba on November 20, 1923 to Moise and Exerine Breland. She worked in the Dietary Dept of the Ste Rose Hospital for 25 years before retiring and moving to Winnipeg. In 2020, she decided to move back to Ste Rose and lived at the Leisure Apartments until which time she needed to move to the Dr Gendreau Personal Care Home.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband George, her grandson Ricky and nine of her eleven siblings.

Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Alfred (Sylvia) Zastre and Cecile Cucheran; her two grandsons Sandy (Patricia) Zastre and Cory Letain; her two great-grandchildren Darryl and Christopher; her two great great-grandchildren Colby and Jaxx; her sister Adrienne Neault, her brother Ernest Breland; her three godsons, Ray Breland, Jordie Zastre and Frank Raffray; and many many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the Ste Rose General Hospital and the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home for their dedicated care and compassion. We also wish to thank those who visited with us on a daily basis, those who brought us meals and snacks and for all the laughs and memories we shared together during this very difficult time.  Also, many thanks to her two special nieces Jeannine Brown and Lorraine St. Germain.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life and Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Ste Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church followed by a lunch at the Curling Rink.
