On Friday, October 18, 2024 Ed Georgetts peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior.
He leaves behind his loving family: daughter Rachel, son-in-law Jim, and granddaughter Kate Stamatakos, and daughter Candace Georgetts; and his two sisters: Julie and Mary Georgettes as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Dennis and Irene and his brothers Ray and Ken as well as many in-laws.
Ed was born in the R.M. of Boulton on May 5, 1946 and was the youngest of five children. He spent most of his life in the Roblin area where he raised his family, eventually moving to Calgary and later retiring in the the parkland area. He enjoyed picking up new skills he could use while working on the farm or renovating a home and would often share what he learned with others. You could often find him attending an auction sale or enjoying a drive in the countryside, visiting with friends and neighbours. People recognized him for his easy-going approach and his sense of humour. He cherished time spent with his friends and loved ones. In later years, he enjoyed connecting through playing games with his children and granddaughter, especially UNO and checkers, sharing a meal, and particularly enjoyed Facetime visits.
While he will be missed, we are comforted to know his faith and salvation was in the Lord. Just as the Scripture says: “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;”” John 11:25 NIV.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the Dauphin Regional Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John the Baptist (Shell Valley) Cemetery, Box 645, Roblin, MB R0L 1P0.
A funeral will be held for Ed on Wednesday, October 23 at 1:00 pm from Sneath-Strilchuk Roblin Chapel with Rev. Fr. Brent Kuzyk officiating. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Orthodox Cemetery (Shell Valley).
