Douglas was born to Henry M. Heppner and Margaret Heppner. On July 3,1965 he married Dixie Welburn.
He was pre-deceased by his parents Henry M. Heppner and Margaret Heppner (Kyle), brother Roy Heppner and brother-in-law Lawrence Shumski.
He is survived by his wife Dixie, brothers Melvin Heppner (Karen), Barry Heppner (Diana), sister Sharon Shumski, nieces Sheryl Simpson (Ken), Rachel and Julia Heppner, nephews Donald Heppner (Jennifer), Brian Heppner, Chance and Hunter Simpson.
Douglas enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing and raising cattle. He spent 20 years driving school bus.
Cremation has taken place, and interment will follow at a later date.
