Donna Shumanski Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Donna Shumanski on April 26th, 2026 at the age of 82, with family at her side.

Donna was born on January 16th, 1944 in Runnymede, Saskatchewan to Alex and Paulina Dmytruk (Garlinski). In June of 1964, she married the love of her life, Gerald ‘Jerry’ Shumanski. Donna was a hard worker with a kind heart, dedicating her life to family businesses ServiceMaster and the Down Town Drycleaners, successfully operating such until retirement.

During her lifetime, Donna had a love for curling, participating in countless bonspiels and events in the community. Her legacy will live on through her family in their cooking, as she leaves behind numerous wonderful recipes. When she wasn’t busy working, she enjoyed spending time at the lake catching fish, gardening, and watching her grandchildren swim. Donna and Jerry loved to travel to warm places, we find comfort in knowing they are together.

They were blessed with five children and eleven grandchildren: Charlene (Troy, Jordann, Kennedi) Vendramin; Michelle (Guy, Tanner, Blaire & Colten, Kamryn, Abbey) Bordian; predeceased by their son Kevin Gerald in 1974; Shawna-Lee (James, Ethan, Carter) Marcynuk; and Marnie (Craig, Owen, Seth, Sloane) Johnson. Additionally, she is survived by her brother Don (Barb) Dmytruk; sister in-law Marlene Stephenson.

Donna was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Jerry Shumanski; son Kevin Shumanski; parents Alex and Paulina Dmytruk; in-laws Fred and Anne Shumanski; sisters Vern Woelfle and Elsie Allan; brother John Dmytruk; and brothers in-law Don Woelfle, Bob Allan, and Wayne Stephanson.

Our family is extremely grateful to Father Brent Kuzyk and the parish of St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church for providing Donna with a strong community after Jerry’s passing last year. She was a devoted Dauphin Kings fan, in which she seldom missed a game. Donna had many close friends, which she considered to be family; and loved hosting anywhere from Christmas holidays to summer gatherings at the lake.

As per Donna’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.

If family and friends choose to do so, a donation can be made in Donna’s name to the ‘Dome Restoration Fund’ of St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
