Diane Savignac

After a very lengthy battle with cancer, Diane Mabel Savignac (née Dechamplain), 66 years of age from Hanmer Ontario, passed away on Sunday, December 21st in Dauphin Manitoba, with her husband and her daughter by her bedside.

Born on January 17, 1959, Diane was the beloved daughter of Adrien and Jeannette Dechamplain (both predeceased). She grew up in Hanmer and later made her home in Dauphin, Manitoba where she built a life centered around her family and most importantly her grandsons.

A devoted wife and mother, Diane leaves behind her husband Jean, to whom she was married for the past 44 years. She also leaves behind her only daughter Sophie (Kirk Thomas), her grandsons Riley and Markus Thomas. She is survived by her older sister Lise (André Brière), her nephew Joel Brière (Amy). On her husband’s side she leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Rachel Caron and Gisèle (Ken Lannamann), brother-in-law Joey Caron, sister-in-law Isabella (Gaetan Caron predeceased), brother-in-law and sister-in-law Claude Caron and Julie Desrochers (both pre-deceased), brother-in-law and sister-in-law André Forcier (Lyn Poulin), and brother-in-law Serge Forcier (Carole). She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews: Emilie (Alex), Josée, Angela (Louie and son Kage), Kelly (Johan, children Abigail and Alexander), Naomi, André, Chanelle (Mathieu, children Michaëlle and Lovanie), Dominic, Shyanne.

Diane will be remembered for her love of family, her kindness, and generosity toward others less fortunate. She loved collecting special items from The Bradford Exchange and sharing these with her loved ones. Her daily phone calls always reminded us to take the time for others even though we lived such busy lives.

As per Diane’s wishes there will be no visitation. A service will be held in Val Therese, ON later this year.  Arrangements entrusted to Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Services in Dauphin, MB. The family would like to thank the hospital staff at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre for their compassion and support during Diane’s last days with us.

She will be deeply missed and kept close to us in our hearts.
