Diane (Perchaluk) Hrycay

Diane Hrycay (Perchaluk) of Dauphin, Manitoba passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at the age of 84 years.

It is with love and gratitude that we remember the life of Diane Hrycay.

Diane was born in Swan River, Manitoba, and grew up in the nearby communitiy of Sclater. She was the beloved daughter of Mary and John Perchaluk, and sister to Phyllis. Her early years shaped the warm, grounded, and compassionate person she became.

She began her career as a much-loved teacher, touching the lives of many young students. After moving to Hamilton, Ontario with her husband Victor, Diane followed a new calling and trained to become a nurse, a role that allowed her natural kindness and deep empathy to shine. Her patients adored her for the same qualities her family and friends cherished—her quiet strength, warmth, and genuine care.

Diane was a gifted artist, and found joy in gardening. Her creativity and nurturing spirit were evident in everything she did.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Victor, with whom she shared many treasured years. She is survived by her daughters, Kim (Drew) and Gail; her grandchildren Mary (Alan), Matthew, and Jake; and her five great-grandchildren, all of whom were the lights of her life. Diane is also survived by her sister Phyllis Hart, niece Tracey Whyte and nephew John Hoopey of Nova Scotia.

In her later years, Diane returned to Dauphin to care for her mother. Diane shared many adventures with her dear companion Rudy.

There are not enough words to fully express what a wonderful, caring, and loving person Diane was. She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.

A celebration of Diane’s life will be held at a later date in Dauphin and in Hamilton.
