Dennis Michael Slobodzian

Dennis Slobodzian of Valley River, Manitoba passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the age of 66 years.

A Private Funeral Service was held for Dennis on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 10:30 am from the Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin with Very Rev Father Oleg Bodnarski officiating.  Interment followed in the Riverside Cemetery - Dauphin.

On January 2, 2021 at 11:00 am Dennis Michael Slobodzian passed away peacefully at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre at the age of 66 with family by his side.
Dennis was born September 3, 1954 in Dauphin, MB to John and Katherine (Kalicinski) Slobodzian.
He attended elementary school at Trembowla and graduated from the Dauphin Regional Comprehensive Secondary School in 1973 majoring in Power Mechanics.
Dennis worked for some time at Ruttan Mine in Leaf Rapids but missed the farm, so he went back to help his parents on the homestead.
He took over the farm in 1984 when John and Kay moved to Dauphin and turned the dairy operation to beef farming.
He let go of the cattle in 2018 and began time for his hobby of working with wood.  Dennis always had great respect for the land and all its beauty.  Whenever there was a project to be built, he would use only the fallen trees by nature.  He loved to keep busy in the shop creating souvenirs for his big family.  These will be cherished in our hearts forever.
For many years Dennis was involved with Canada's National Riding and Dancing Cossacks and was an avid dancer and horse rider.  He enjoyed time at the festival with friends.
He was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic St. Peter & Paul Valley River Farm Church and also of Trembowla Cross of Freedom Historical Site.
Dennis was predeceased by his father John Slobodzian in 2012 and numerous aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his mother Kay Slobodzian; his sisters, Lynda (Garry) Paziuk and Darlene (Keijo) Rantala; his brothers, Ron (Gail) Slobodzian, Don (Anita) Slobodzian and Jim (Leanne) Slobodzian; and his aunt Jean Slobodzian; also many nieces and nephews.
The family are forever grateful to all the staff at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre for their care, home care staff and Dr. Ashcroft, Dr. Mills and staff and to Rev. Fr. Oleg Bodnarski for prayers.
