David Wilson Obituary

Unexpected and with great sadness we mourn the loss of our beloved hard-working colleague, friend and brother David “Harley” Wilson on December 30, 2024. Dave was born “David Allen Wilson” to Glen and Ora (Hamilton) Wilson on March 27, 1967, in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba.  He proceeded to live all his life in the Dauphin area where he attended school and was raised on a small farm in the RM of Dauphin. In the early 80’s he started on his quest for hard work, which he found working for “Rampton’s” golden guernsey cow farm. He stayed with them until his dream was answered and he started to work for Prairie Pipeline; approximately 1983 through 1989.  In the beginning he repaired and replaced gas lines in the city of Dauphin followed by many other locations throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan as a labourer and an all-round helper. This was the start of his lifelong ambition loving the pipeline.

From 1991 to 2024 he worked in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario as well as Manitoba. Dave worked for his title of welder’s helper in Local # 254 by attending every possible opportunity with hard work and vigor just as he lived his life. He finally found a place he could fit in and call his own working for pipeline companies like Prairie, Wasaluck, Summit, OJ Pipelines, OJ Industrial, Trans Canada, Majestic, Banister, Banister Majestic, Marine, Heritage, Suncor Energy and Louisbourg. He was often heard saying he worked with the best men and women he had ever worked with and have the utmost respect for all of this fellow colleagues.

When Dave was not working on the pipeline or many variations of said piping changes, he was back home looking after the farm property, defending it against nature’s many big and small menacing creatures.

For the most part, Dave’s downtime would be taking a trip to town to pick up supplies as needed. He would always stop at Sung’s restaurant in the Community Inn to enjoy coffee with the coffee gang. He would always end up with a plate of french fries and we would all try to solve the world ‘s many problems while enjoying each other’s company. Dave was very proud to enjoy his life to the fullest and was often heard telling one of his many stories or what seemed to be an endless number of facts.

Dave is survived by his sister Arlene (Larry) Kolody, sister-in-law Ann Wilson, along with many nieces, nephews and his dear close friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Glen and Ora Wilson; sister Elaine Wilson; brother Brian Wilson and brother-in-law Wayne Tanner.
