David raised his 12 children in Mallard, MB and there he established and built a home near the lake shore side of Mallard. He was married for 61 years until the passing of our mother. He worked for many years as a commercial fisherman and worked very hard to build a life and a beautiful home where we all felt safe.  He also was experienced in small cattle ranching, fishing, trapping, logging, sugar beeting, and digging seneca root. He also worked for various farmers in the areas of Fork River, and Gilbert Plains stoking and cutting grain. David also did community garbage collection for over 20 years for the community of Mallard.  David was an excellent provider for his family.  He was a devoted husband to our mother and loved his children. He was a very spiritual man and was committed to his Catholic faith. He was an active member of the St Viator’s church for many years.  David will be greatly missed for his fatherly love, hard work, honesty, and respect. He taught us how to invest in family, live with integrity, and to never be surprised at what you can accomplish with your two bare hands. David encouraged us all that it is never too late to start over and keep going no matter what. David inspired us not to remain angry but to forgive and forget. He was a man to accept people for who they are and lend a helping hand when ever you can. He often made time to visit people that were in the hospital and the Personal Care Home. David taught us to make many friends because you never know when you need someone. David was admired by his great strength even after the many struggles and challenges he has been through. His humbleness and generosity will always be remembered to not only his children but to other numerous relatives and friends. He left a legacy of love and respect that will live on in his children and grandchildren.
Once in a lifetime a special person will come along the way that will make a big impression upon his community and to all who knew him. That special person was David. He was one of them who stood above the crowd. We were very fortunate and blessed to have him as a father and friend. Thank you David for being with us for so many years and blessing us with your life and being the wonderful amazing father you were to us all.  We are so thankful and blessed that you were part of everyone's life.
We cannot find the words to express our heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of well wishes and gratitude the family has received from all extended family, friends, and neighbors.  Special thanks to Prairie Mountain Health Care Team, Ste. Rose Health care and especially Dr. T. Mathison for her exceptional care, kindness and family support.
