Daniel Paul Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Daniel "Boone" Paul of Roblin, Manitoba who passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the age of 35 years.Daniel was born April 22, 1984 in Calgary, Alberta and was taken from us on February 22, 2020.
Left here to cherish his memories are his parents, Kelly and Pearl; brother, Michael and family; sister, April (Ron) and family and his pride and joy daughter, Sophia. Here now to cherish his memories is his grandmother, or nannie (as she likes to be called) Yvonne; many aunties, uncles and cousins along with his friends, some of who became brothers. He is now embraced by loved ones who have journeyed on before him.
When Daniel was only six years old, it was the second last day of ice fishing and his dad had taken his brother Michael out to Lillies Lake, known today as Percy Lake. When they arrived home, Michael came in with a master angler jack, well that was it, his dad had to take him the next day so that he could get his monster also. Daniel caught the fish, brought it up through the hole, the whole lake knew that this fish was not having a chance to get back into the lake and Daniel made sure of that.
Daniel’s real first big game hunt came a few years later when his dad and uncle Archie got drawn for moose. Uncle Archie had to work so Daniel and his dad went out hunting and for hours they tracked and after seeing moose tracks and timber wolf tracks, they finally shot their big bull moose. Now that they had their moose they needed help, so dad told him to stay with the moose and that he was also going to leave the gun with Daniel while he walked back to get help. Daniel at this time would have no part of that and he also wanted to go with him to get help. Anyone who knows Daniel now, knows that this would not happen now.
Daniel also had a knack for trapping. When he was five years old, his uncle Len would take him out to check his trap line and this was just the beginning for Daniel.  He learnt many tricks from Duck Mountain’s own trapper, John Nykyaforak, and later trapped many of his own animals from beavers, muskrats, mink, martins, lynx and fox.
Daniel was always unique in what he did from the get go. While still in his mom’s tummy, on Easter Sunday when she was about to enjoy the Easter dinner, he was having no part of that and it was off to the hospital. A couple of hours later, 10 pound Daniel was born. Actually, his parents had the name Darrell chosen for him before he was born, but they did not think he looked like a Darrell. After three days Daniel was given his name. Boone, which is his nickname and everyone knows him as, was given to him around the age two or three and it has stuck with him all through his life because he was this centuries New Daniel Boone. This was because of his love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, trapping and anything involved with outdoors and the bush.  It is now fitting that we lay him to rest on February 29 which is a leap year, because in the year 1984, when he was born, this was also a leap year.
