It is with broken hearts that we, the family of Clifford Louis (Leo) Szewczyk announce his untimely passing on October 31, 2024, at the age of 78 years, 

Clifford will be deeply missed by many especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; daughter Sherryl (Sheldon) Zdan and their children Jonathan (Jazlyn), Carolynn (Bailey), Connor, son Michael (Lisa) and their children Brendan (Kaity) and their children Ember & Archie, Alyssa (Evan), son Steven (Tina) and their children Kaitlyn (Kristopher) and Christopher.  Also mourning Clifford is his companion Theresa Oleschak and her family. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn (Nick), his brother Johnny (Lucille) and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Clifford was predeceased by his wife of 29 years Carol who was the love of his life and the mother of his children, his parents; mother Katie (Ryznar) and father Benedict (Richard) Szewczyk, his in-laws Mathilda (Hanke) and Henry Krantz, their son Gerald, and his wife Sonia.

Clifford was a father, grandfather, Papa 2, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

He was born February 21, 1946, to Richard and Katie Szewczyk, the older brother to Marilyn and Johnny, Clifford was raised on the family farm south of Alonsa. He attended school in Alonsa to which he walked to school with his sister Marilyn and often asked her “How’s my hair?”

Clifford’s working career consisted of working on the pipeline with Trans Canada pipeline in British Columbia and Alberta. He worked in the gypsum mine in Amaranth and the nickel mine in Sudbury, Ontario. Cliff, Carol, and their family moved to the family farm after the passing of his mother in 1975. Clifford then became a grader operator for the Alonsa Yard for 30 years until his retirement in 2011.

Upon retirement, he continued working on the farm, putting his hands in the dirt & grease. Clifford attended many auction sales and enjoyed coffee at New Horizons. He spent many wonderful hours watching his grandchildren play their sports and taking road trips to Alberta to see his other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Prayers will be offered on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 7:00 pm from Assumption of Our Lady Roman Catholic Church, Alonsa. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Alonsa Community Centre, Alonsa, MB. Fr. Leo Fernandes celebrated the mass with interment following in the Assumption of Our Lady Parish Cemetery.

The family wish to thank all of the health care teams from Health Sciences Centre, Neepawa Hospital and Ste.
