Christopher William Marrs of Ochre River, Manitoba sadly passed away on January 26, 2026, at the age of 61 years old.
Chris was born on May 15, 1964. He was chosen into the Marrs family in 1967. Chris grew up in Ochre River, Manitoba, where he spent his early years surrounded by family, a few close friends and small-town life. He attended school in Ochre River through Grade 8 and later continued his high school education in Dauphin.
Chris is predeceased by his parents Bill and Bea Marrs. He leaves to mourn his sister Debbie Abraham (Leon), nephew Jason (Maddy), niece Jessica (Dave) and nephew Jerry, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews, many Aunt’s, Uncles and cousins. He enjoyed spending time with his dear friend Debbie McNorton lending a helping hand, enjoying long drives together, spending time at the river enjoying the water and beautiful weather during the summer. The companionship they shared meant a lot to each of them.
As a young man, Chris helped on the family farm and later worked in highway construction for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his Dad, whether it be cutting wood or hunting, you’d often find the two of them in the bush somewhere. One of his greatest joys was riding his motorcycle, enjoying the freedom of the open road. He enjoyed camping, being out at his cabin and spending time with ones he cared for.
Some of our fond memories are enjoying time growing up with our uncle Chris is his love for riding anything with a motor! He loved his trike as well as skidoo, and his yellow car. He would bring his skidoo and a tube to Grandma and Grandpa’s, towing us behind for hours of fun in the snow. He always had a joke to share with his witty sense of humour and big stories at times. We would often see him in his work clothes with that pouch of tobacco in is his chest pocket. Chris loved to sit and chat in Ochre River Store, enjoying his coffee and catching up on the latest gossip. He always had a story to tell and liked to visit.
Chris worked for Ken and Debbie Schroeder and their family for many years helping on their family farm. Chris was fortunate to have close friends in Ken and Debbie, who he truly considered family. Through time, shared experiences, and mutual understanding, their bond grew into a fair and meaningful relationship. Their friendship extended to their family as well, creating a connection that meant a great deal to Chris.
We remember our Uncle Chris as someone who had the best intentions, even if he was determined to do things his own way. He could be stubborn at times, that was part of what made him who he was and why he will be remembered with fondness.
Chris was battling health issues the last few years, with regular visits to his doctor. He spent his last month at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre. We would like to thank his Doctor, Dr. S Scott and all palliative care staff at DRHC for their caring attentiveness and patience with him in his last days.
Chris will be remembered for his strength of character, love for living on the family farm, being in nature in the bush, his forever need for a shower and his deep roots in the Ochre River area. He will be missed by his family, friends and those who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Chris on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 10:00 am from the Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin
