Charlotte Henry neé Paul
April 13, 1962 - November 5, 2024
With husband Brian, family members and her friend Linda surrounding her bedside, Charlotte went to be with the Lord. She joined her mom and dad, Claire and Edward Paul Sr.; brothers Edward Jr. and Vital Paul; sister-in-law Fern Paul, and extended family members.
Charlotte had one son Kevin Klassen who was her pride and joy. When he started school she held down a number of jobs including at The Bargain Shop, Bourbon’s Place, and Duck Mountain Lodge. She enjoyed picking spruce cones with her dad, and sisters Dorothy and Stella, and she would try to get the biggest pile.
For several years Charlotte was a companion to a lady affectionately called Mrs. B, and they formed a close friendship. During many of those quiet hours she crocheted afghans for each of her sisters, godchildren April and Sara, and godfather and brother Edward Jr. Those afghans will be specially cherished now. She also made a beautiful needlepoint of roses.
Charlotte had a determined spirit and was insistent a higher education was not necessary. However a health care aide course came up and she obtained her certificate with zeal. She then worked at Crocus Court Care Home for many years.
Charlotte had a green thumb and opened a little greenhouse for a number of years. She graced her yard with plants and flowers, and kept her yard in tip top shape. It reflected her house which was always immaculate. She and Brian also spent many hours fishing and quading, taking special road trips to northern Manitoba. In addition Charlotte never wanted to fly in commercial flights, but conquered that fear and made trips to the Dominican Republic and Mexico.
Charlotte had a love of dancing to fiddle music, inherent to a lot of Métis people. She also enjoyed other genres of music but nothing like when the bow hit the first notes on the fiddle. She even enjoyed grabbing an air fiddle and giving out a rendition of her own. Her sister Sharon would enthusiastically grab an air guitar and chord in tandem to her joyous fiddling.
When something was said as a child that was funny, her brothers would not forget it and some fifty to sixty odd years later it was still talked about and chuckled over. Examples such as “Gordon, how old I’m is?” and “Chee Chee Noe” amongst many others. We will simultaneously have tears and laughter remembering those precious memories
Charlotte had a love for children and had a close relationship with Everett and Adeline and their mother Hilary Suidak. This sentiment was extended to her nephews and nieces.
Missing her are her devoted husband Brian; beloved son Kevin; siblings (Margaret, Mildred) Paul; Gordon (Connie) Paul; Ephrem Paul; Rene (Linda) Paul; Dorothy (Rodney) Wilson; Sharon (Greg) Davey; Stella (Doug) Martin; in-laws Louis and Lorraine Allarie; and extended family.
Till we meet again our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend…
Numbers 6: 24-26
The Lord bless you and keep you,
The Lord make his face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you.
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you
And give you peace
