Charles Moar Obituary

Charles James Moar

Charles James Moar of Ste. Rose du Lac passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024 at the age of 73 years.

Charlie was born in Ste. Rose du Lac on April 25, 1950.  He lived a good life.  Charlie worked as a heavy equipment operator and a mechanic.  He learned how to operate the big machines from Raymond Knockaert and helped build the roads in Crane River which are still in use today.

Charlie loved big trucks, motorcycles and skidoos.  He loved speed which was maybe the reason he wasn't a fan of the RCMP.

Charlie loved his family and always made a point of stopping in for a visit.  He had a special relationship with his dad.  Charlie enjoyed hunting and always shared with the elders of the community.  In the summer Charlie could be found helping his brother-in-law Louis in the hayfield.    Charlie's sister Lorraine became his caregiver in December of 2013 and cared for him until his passing.

Goodtime Charlie loved his booze and in his younger years, he enjoyed fastball and was a talented back catcher.  Charlie enjoyed teasing and bugging his family and friends.  In his lifetime, he traveled Canada from coast to coast.  To the rest of the world, he was known as Pony, but to us he was simply Charlie and we love you and will miss you.

Charlie leaves to mourn his passing; his sisters Lorraine Moar and her partner Louis Altenburg, and Tina Moar, his brothers Larry Moar of Pine Falls, MB, Norman Moar of Winnipeg and Virgil Moar of Winnipeg, his children Lisa, Mandy and Chaz and his grandson Chezz along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In keeping with Charlie's wishes, cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a future date.  Charlie's family would like to thank the staff of the Dr. Gendreau Home for the care and kindness they showed to Charlie and our family during his time there.
