Celebrating the life of Cecil J Houle 

It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Cecil J Houle on Monday, December 23, 2024 at the age of 66 years.  

Cecil was born on October 7, 1958 in Ste. Rose du Lac, MB.  He married Karen Joan Cochrane on July 9th, 2005.  Following his education, Cecil worked in Bacon Ridge for Jimmy and Florence Ross in their poolroom.  He then began working with CNR as a foreman where he worked with many men from the community.  Cecil worked at Ebb and Flow School as a janitor/maintenance person until 2015.  He worked from the Ebb and Flow Health Office as a medical transport driver until he became ill.  

Cecil spent much of his leisure time golfing, playing pool and cards, attending hockey games and going ice fishing as well as watching and playing baseball.  

Cecil was predeceased by his parents Emile and Theresa Houle, his wife Karen Joan, his son William Peter, his mother-in-law Delma Rose, his brother Ralph, his sister Eileen, his sister-in-law Carmen Houle and his little friend Baby Kelly Hunter.  

Cecil leaves to mourn his passing and cherish many wonderful memories; his sons Derek (Maggie) and Brett, his grandson Brandon Racette and his special granddaughter Annabella Moar, and his grandchildren Leanna and Landon Beaulieu, his companion Gwen Hunter and her children and grandchildren who called him Papa, his brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, his father-in-law Joe Davis as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  

Our family would like to give special thanks to Raeleen Timlick, his caregiver and the staff of the Dauphin Regional Health Centre.  

Traditional Wake and Prayers began on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 5:00 pm in the Ebb and Flow Community Complex, Ebb and Flow First Nation.  Prayers were offered at 7:00 pm.   

Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 12:00 noon in the Ebb and Flow Community Complex, Ebb and Flow First Nation.  Fr. Moise Adossou celebrated the mass. 

Interment took place in the Ebb and Flow Cemetery, Ebb and Flow First Nation. 

Pallbearers were Sonny Flett, Derek Houle, Roger Houle, Leon Houle, Patrick Desjarlais Sr, Dillon Houle, Russell Beaulieu, and Ryan Racette.  All of Cecil's Texas Hold Em Card Buddies, Golfing Partners, Baseball Buddies, Quad Riders and his friends were considered honorary pallbearers.
