Cathleen Hope Evans (née Diehl)
Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Cathleen Hope Evans.
Cathleen Hope, daughter of Alvin Diehl and Donna Becker, was born on August 16, 1952, in Roblin, MB. She was one of seven siblings, with five sisters, Jody, Jackie, Arlene, Karen, and Debbie, and one brother, Murray. She was received as a child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism on September 14, 1952, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Congregation in Zorra, Saskatchewan. On March 19, 1967, she was confirmed in the Christian faith at the same congregation, publicly confessing her baptismal faith with the Confirmation Verse: “God is love.” On May 13, 1972, Cathleen was united in holy matrimony to William Alfred Evans at Grace Lutheran Church in Zorra, Saskatchewan, and together they lived a blessed life for many years. God also blessed them with the gift of their children, Vanessa, who died as an infant, Bryce William Evans, and Kevin Murray Reginald Evans.
Cathleen served with dedication and love in many roles throughout her life. For 39 years, she worked as a clerk/secretary for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Roblin, Manitoba, a job she cherished deeply for the opportunity to serve her community and support the RCMP. After retiring from the RCMP, Cathleen continued to share her gifts by working at the local library, where her love for knowledge and service shone brightly. She also devoted herself to volunteering in the Roblin community, touching countless lives with her kindness and generosity.
Cathleen found great joy in gardening and meticulously maintaining her yard, creating a beautiful space that reflected her care and creativity. She held her friends and neighbors dear, fostering deep connections that enriched her life and theirs. In the last five years of her life, Cathleen embraced adventure, traveling the world and exploring new places with wonder and enthusiasm, making cherished memories along the way. Whether at home, church, work, or in the community, Cathleen’s faithful service and vibrant spirit reflected her deep commitment to God and those around her.
Finally, on June 12, 2025, God blessed Cathleen with a holy death and took her home to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead. She is survived by her sons, Bryce William Evans and his children Izzy and Shea, and Kevin Murray Reginald Evans and his wife Melissa and their child Kora, and her sisters, Jody, Arlene, and Debbie. She was predeceased by her beloved spouse, William Alfred Evans, her daughter Vanessa, her brother Murray, and her sisters Jackie and Karen. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our sister Cathleen.
