Butch Bauer

It is with heart breaking sadness that the family of Clarence "Butch" Truman Bauer, announce his passing on the evening of Monday, September 16, 2019 at the age of 63 years, at Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg, with his wife, Karen, and children by his side. Butch was born on August 23, 1956 in Roblin, MB to Emily (Halwas) and John Bauer. Butch was the fourth child in a family of five. He was raised on his families farm seven miles south east of Roblin and continued to live there until his passing. Butch attended Grainfield school until it closed, and then he attended school in Roblin. Being raised on a farm doing chores, seeding, harvesting and feeding cattle were a part of his everyday life. Butch also filled in operating heavy equipment for his dad, who owned a small construction company, and learned to operate "Cats" at a very young age. Many roads in the Shevlin, Grainfields, and Inglis areas were quite familiar to him, as he had helped to build them. Butch was also an avid horseman, taking many awards with his horse "Billy", who was his pride and joy. At a later time he purchased his quarter horse "Bob" and had many a good run with him also.
It was in high school that he met his future wife, Karen (Koroluk). They became high school sweethearts, together from the ages of 16 and 15. On July 23, 1977 they married at the young ages of 19 and 20. After their marriage Butch continued to help with the farm and work on construction with his dad. In the winters he made his way to Alberta to the oilfields, spending some time in the Arctic during this venture. On April 20, 1979, Butch and Karen were blessed with their first son Clinton. It was then that Butch settled into farming as his career, working together with his father. On April 26, 1982 they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Jennalee. March 21, 1985 they were blessed with the birth of another son, Dustin, and on March 12, 1987 they were blessed with their third son Matthew.
Upon his fathers death in 1990 at the age of 32, he started farming on his own raising a variety of cattle, crops and kids! Every one of his friends, family, and neighbors were always welcome to a cup of coffee and a "chat" about farming and the weather. Any or all of the nieces, nephews, and the kids friends were always welcome into their home at anytime, and if Karen was at work they were fed with Butch's famous fried eggs or his fabulous goulash or a good feed of Bauer beef. Butch loved watching all his kids activities, especially hockey, but sat through many a piano recital with a look of great pride on his face. Over the years Butch spent many cold winter nights in his shop welding. He made many a panel, gate, chute, and calf puller along with beautiful garden lamps for Karen, and many "nic-nacs" for her gardens. The years quickly flew by and the family started to "increase". The additions of his two grandsons, Connor and Kain, brought so much joy and pride, and a sparkle in his eyes as he teased them about charging "rent" as they would come to the farm at any given time. In December of 2014 Butch fell ill with "bronchitis", and in January of 2015 was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the blood plasma. After receiving nine months of chemo in Russell, Butch went through a stem cell transplant. In July of 2018 the cancer returned. After another round of chemo, the cancer quickly came back and his battle ended on Monday, September 16, 2019 at Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg, MB.
Left to mourn his passing is his loving wife, Karen of 42 years. Children, Clint (Sheri); Jenna (Shawn, grandsons, Connor and Kain); Dustin (Lisa) and Matthew (Kristi). His mother, Emily; sister, Carol Funk; sister-in-law, Dianne Bauer, brother, Brian; sister Elaine, Baumung (Harley). Many beloved nephews and nieces, along with great nephew and nieces. Predeceased by his father, John; brother, Glen; brother-in-law, Hank; sister-in-law, Beryl; nephew, Dean Bauer; parents-in-law, Alex and Mary Koroluk, who loved him dearly.

Prayers were offered on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 7:00 pm from St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Roblin.

A Funeral Service was held for Butch on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 2:00 pm also from St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Roblin with Pastor Barry Wood officiating.
