Brett Procyshyn Obituary

Brett Procyshyn of Winnipeg, Manitoba, formerly of Winnipegosis, passed away on Wednesday, July 27th 2022 at the age of 32 years. Brett was born July 15, 1990 in Dauphin, Manitoba to parents Brian and Diane (Monych) Procyshyn. He spent his childhood and teenage years in Winnipegosis, Manitoba, where he graduated from Winnipegosis Collegiate in 2008. Throughout his younger years Brett was active in hockey, baseball, taekwondo, badminton, curling and the fire department.

Brett always considered Winnipegosis his home but after high school he moved to Winnipeg to pursue his education and enjoyed being close to his siblings Colin and Callie. Brett began his career working on the diamond drills during the summer. He worked in places such as, Bathurst, New Brunswick to Belcher Island, Nunavut to Coffee Creek, Yukon. One of the last places that Brett worked in was Bralorne, British Columbia, which happened to be where his Dad was the foreman. This town held a special place in his heart because his late Gido happened to work there on the mine.

Brett attended Red River College and achieved his heavy-duty mechanic diploma. Brett graduated in 2020 and earned Toromont-CAT award for his top skills in his class. Brett went on to work at Tony’s Transport for a year. After working there, he followed his heart and went back to drills and worked alongside his Dad for Foraco in Bralorne. He was his Dad’s right hand man and they shared many special moments together while being there.  Brett also shared many special moments with his Mom, they often bonded over their love for food. They would go out shopping and then end the day at a new restaurant, where they would both order something new to share and a cold beer.

Brett was the most kind-hearted, well-mannered, loving and caring guy on this planet. He always dropped whatever he was doing and would help anyone in a heartbeat.  It’s hard knowing that he’s not going to be around to be that person for all of us but he left us wanting to be better people and fill the shoes that Brett once walked in.

Brett is survived by his parents Brian and Diane (Monych) Procyshyn, brother Colin (Leah) and sister Callie, twin nieces Liv and Helaina, partner Laura and pets Parker, Finley, Fiona and Tony. Brett is predeceased by his Gido and Baba Procyshyn, Grandpa and Grandma Monych, Father-in-law Ron, Uncle Stan, Uncle Boss, Uncle Ali, and Aunty Marie.

The next time you see the quietest guy in the room with the biggest smile, the person buying everyone in the bar a drink, the youngest guy in the bingo hall or the guy rocking mismatched socks and long johns in the grocery store, I hope you think of Brett and smile. One of Brett’s famous big smiles.

We love you Brett and we’ll see you again.
