Bill Ploshynsky Obituary

We are heartbroken to share that William (Bill) Ploshynsky passed away on December 7th.

Bill loved to travel and did so extensively.

Following University, Bill worked for the Province in Dauphin and Thompson but his goal was to work for Immigration. In order to apply, he needed to be bilingual so he enrolled at the University of Nice in France. On his return to Canada, fluent in French, he applied and was accepted. His work with Immigration started in Winnipeg but led to three year posts in both Kingston, Jamaica, and New Delhi, India, a place our dad had been posted with the Royal Air Force during the war. Bill also had shorter terms in Beirut, Lebanon and Ghana, West Africa.  From each of his posts, he continued to explore other countries and developed a deep appreciation for other cultures.

Bill had a huge heart and a sharp wit, and when he had that twinkle in his eye, we knew there was something coming that would crack us up. Bill was comfortable talking to everyone and had the ability to put people at ease. His favorite place was the family cabin in the Ducks Mountains and we had many wonderful, laughter-filled summers there.  Bill and mom had a special relationship and enjoyed daily games of Scrabble or rummy, making each other laugh heartily. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by our mother, Violet, and siblings Sharon MacDonald and niece and nephew Jaymie and Chris, Bob (Mary-Anne) and niece and nephews Bailee, Zach and Jake, and Kathy (Randy) Daley.

He was predeceased by our father, William (Bill).
